What Records Have You Bought Most Recently ?

Patricia Barber - heard about her but never find time to explore. This "house arrest" period is best to check her out.
Her recordings are exceptional. Cafe Blue is a great album as well as just about all of her albums . Sometimes her songs can get a little off the wall but overall she puts some spice into that genre .

Did you guy's get "Songs for Groovy Children"?
It's the complete set of the Band of Gypsies Fillmore concerts. Excellent! Worth every penny.
Can you imagine seeing one of those shows for $6.00?

Yessir.
I've been to many a Bill Graham Winterland show in the 70's. They were $6 and you got to see three bands. Most times all three were headliner quality.

And you were probably close enough that you could SEE the bands.
The stage was only about 42" off the floor. No barriers. I was leaning against the stage a few times although it was a bit of a crush, not too bad though compared to the craziness nowadays. You could literally touch your favorite rock star. One show I was at was when Sammy Hagar had just left Montrose in '76 or '77. Might've been his first show solo... I think it was actually. The original rock version of Journey opened, then Sammy, then Montrose. Sammy blew Montrose off the stage. He did Bad Motor Scooter and brought out a lap steel guitar and sat on the edge of the stage with his legs hanging over the edge to do the motorcycle sounds at the beginning of the song. People went nuts. I was right there at the front of the stage. We were all patting him on the back. Great show. Montrose looked bummed and wasn't very impressive. Sammy was a hard act to follow that night.

Back on topic....
Most recently I bought Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain, Live at Canterbury House, 1968".

His rapport with the audience is so intimate and natural, it's beautiful and involving. A helluva recording too.

I really hope it gets re-pressed so more people can enjoy this recording.

Just came in the mail today, Anita Swings Cole Porter, Anita O'Day. Ten bucks from Discogs, was supposed to be a Japanese pressing but to my pleasant surprise is an original stereo pre-MGM Verve. Right down to the funky outgroove.
Gave it a clean, looks to be better than rated by the seller.
Tomorrow, my favorite record store reopens (with social distancing restrictions, natch). Hoping to scroe an armload. Lots of pent-up demand.

Nice score. Btw, what's your impression on Japanese pressings in general?
