What tape (any format) are you playing now?

I've been listening to a few 8 tracks on my Magnavox console. Actually doesn't sound bad at all.:music:

Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge over Troubled Water
The Vogues - Greatest Hits
The Best of Sam Cooke
Lester Flatt and Mac Wiseman - Lester 'N' Mac

Skylab, how does this tape sound? I have about 15 pre-recorded reels. My favorite is one done by the Command Label around 1960. The sonics are unreal.

It sounds fantastic! The vast majority of 7.5 IPS commercial reels I have sound somewhere between very good and astonishing. This one I would classify just below astonishing :thmbsp:

Found this one couple days ago at my fav used record store......Pristine condition, sounds fantastic. Country based songs, which I am not a country fan, but its Nat King Cole...cmooon!

Got to explain how the 1/2" 8-track and 1/2" 2-track Otaris work to my 7 year old today. We listened to a recent tune I recorded called "I'm a Baby," first directly from mixed tracks off the 8-track and then a recent 2-mix on the 1/4" machine.

Faith no more - The real thing (Slash Records 25878-4), cassette, normal bias

Purchased from a record store in very early 1990.

"Nice art!", said the store owner as he sold it to me.

The owner was busted for drug sales a few years later. The store is no more. :tears:

Metallica - Ride the lightning (Megaforce/Asylum/Elektra 9 60396-4), cassette, white housing

Cassette from thrift store (69 cents) of Ray Lynch's "Nothing Above My Shoulders but the Evening" on BMG/Windham Hill label. Akai GXC-760D.

Thrifting is a good way to explore new music.
