MCD500 direct to the MC501's, out to the Monitor Audio PL100's, with a little Sonos thrown in, on the 4ohm taps.
Ok guys, what taps are you running your speakers off of?
There are enough "501" owners here we should get some good answers.
I am especially interested in LOW EFFICIENCY speakers like my LS360's
Thanks in advance.
Is anyone using two taps simultaneously, like 4 ohm taps for the woofers, and 8 ohm taps for mids and tweets?

This is perfectly fine to do with the solid state amps but do not try this with the tube amps.Is this legal ?

The 8 ohm tap will be 3db louder than the 4 ohm tap. The bass reduction could be why he is hearing greater detail.I have been talking with lyle1 in the PMC Owner Group. He is driving a new pair of PMC EB1i speakers with MC501's, and is using the 4 ohm taps for the woofers, and the 8 ohm taps for the mids and tweets. The PMC EB1i is rated as a 4 ohm speaker. He tells me he hears greater detail using the 8 ohm taps for the mids and tweets. Since he is in Alberta, Canada, and I am in north Florida there's no way for me to drop by for an audition, so I will have to take his word for the greater detail. I would be concerned about how the 4 ohm load on an 8 ohm tap might effect the mid range and tweeter frequency response, as well as the balance of those drivers outputs with the woofers.
Using 4 ohm on Vienna Acoustics Mahler.
