What was the last movie you watched?

Michael (2026)

The MJ Biopic, covering the years from 1966 to the 1984 Victory Tour. Amazon Prime dropped the rental price by half so I gave it a shot.

It's actually pretty good, entertaining and nostalgic at least, showing all the key moments in his early career, but rather fast paced and ending well before the accusations and decline. The Family was very involved in the making of the movie, and they probably didn't want to give time to the bad stuff.
Joseph Jackson however gets trashed pretty badly, maybe he deserved it.

Adult MJ is played by his real-life Nephew, Jaffar Jackson, son of Jermaine, his first acting job and he completely nailed it! Terrific performance.

All he needed was just one person in his life to tell him "NO", as in "no Michael, you can't have a chimp", "No, Michael, you can't have sleep overs with 10 yr old boys" etc, etc.

Speaking of the Chimp, Bubbles was entirely CGI, and looked it.

His Father tried hard to control him (through abuse) I think that was part of the problem. Once you get rich and powerful no one can tell you what to do.

Not of this Earth (1988)
A remake of the 1957 film of the same name starring some chick I've never heard of. Traci Lords? She's not a very good actress but adds a lot to the final product.
She was infamous as an underage porn star in the late 80's before she attempted to go into mainstream movies, all of her "films" when she was a minor were destroyed.

Sometimes a Great Notion (1970). Paul Newman, Henry Fonda, Michael Sarrazin, Lee Remick, etc ...
based on Ken Kesey's 2nd Great American Novel (rumored to be his best work).

Followed up by The Hustler (1961) Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason, George C Scott, Piper Laurie ...

"The Dressmaker", 2015 film with Kate Winslet.

A glamorous woman returns to her small town in rural Australia. With her sewing machine and haute couture style, she transforms the women and exacts sweet revenge on those who did her wrong.

This is an unusual film to say the least. It's almost otherworldly; the characters are extreme, as is the setting in the desert.

It is very entertaining. Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth really boil the hormones with their onscreen chemistry. Not for the kiddies; tragedy abounds.

There are several other films by this name.

Interstellar (2014) Working through the Christopher Nolan Filmography ...
Not in the mood for the Dark Knight trilogy -
so not sure if Inception (2010) or Tenet (2020) is next

Radius (2017)

I watched this movie last night and found it to be very good. I won't give away the plot but it was a unique twist on the sci-fi genre regarding death by unexplained phenomena. Before I started it, I thought there were high odds that I wouldn't watch this movie to the end. It kept me engaged all the way through. If I had to critique it then it would be the ending. IMO, it looks like they set up the ending to have a sequel that never occurred. This said, it was still a good movie and I don't recall another movie having this particular plotline which is refreshing by itself these days. Also, they very likely made this movie with a very small budget so don't expect to see crazy special effects. I think it was better without them.

The most important question is: what is a noncritical scene in the middle of the Odyssey that can be skipped for a bathroom break? Three hours is a long time :-).
They do a lot of BS on the boat. Unfortunately it’s not long enough lol

The Odyssey. Spoiler alert, Spiderman ends up as the king.

Good movie, but I had trouble with some of the dialog. May have been the far back to one side seat I had, but its not the first time I've felt that the voices vs other sounds balance was off. Could also just be my ears suck, which isn't news.
I thought it was fine except very loud IMO. Those IMAX speakers are no joke

The Trip (1967)
A Roger Corman film about an acid trip starring a surprisingly empathetic Bruce Dern. Also includes Peter Fonda, Susan Strasburg, and Dennis Hopper playing Dennis Hopper.
It was meh...
