What was the last movie you watched?

Well I'm not going to Belgium to see it, I'll tell you that right now. :)

When the F1 movie came out, I hadn't been to a movie theater in MANY years, let alone an iMAX (my home theater is better than a movie theater to me, especially in sound quality). But F1 made me go to see IMAX (and it was worth it). I thought at the time I should definitely buy IMAX stock, which was around 25. It seemed like a "no brainer" to buy, because it was the first time I heard people talking about IMAX at all, and it being a "must see" on IMAX. I didn't buy it -- and it took a while for the stock to come up, so for a while was thinking I made the right call -- then it rose fairly quickly to 43 (I presume the delay was after the "F1 Effect" showed up in earnings). I don't know if there is the same opportunity now (currently at $37ish). Earnings are coming up in 2 days -- it's a down a bit going in based upon indirect news of Paramount / Warner Bros jitters. No idea what earnings will be, seems like guidance should be decent based upon The Odyssey having even bigger buzz than F1.

Ended up buying IMAX stock at $37.18 just after my post above on 7/21, and just sold it for $46.52 today, so a 25% gain in one week.

In other words, yes, I love "The Odyssey" movie (even though I haven't seen it yet :):))

And now the short term capital gains....yippee! Let's see 10,000 shares bout $9 gain per share. Well just save enough for the taxes!

Defenceless: A Blood Symphony (2004)
Weird and interesting combination of poetic art and disturbing violence and gore. I really like the art parts and acting, which reminds to silent movies since there's no dialogues.

The Neon Demon (2016)
It also combines art and gore. I like it's hi-visual appearance, but in every other respect I find it inferior to previous one.

After these two I need some break from similar stuff.

Emma had wanted to watch "Zero Hour" (1957) an old Black and white film about a WW2 fighter pilot suffering from PTSD who hopped on a commercial flight
at the last minute to talk his wife out of leaving him ... and wound up flying the plane to a landing in Vancouver when the pilot and Copilot suffer ptomaine poisoning.

It was remade in 1980 as the parody film "Airplane!" (Emma had never seen it!) - so we watched both, back to back last night!

After watching Zero Hour last night, and remembering his role as Jack D. Ripper in Strangelove, I looked through Sterling Hayden's biography.
As a Pastor's wife, I was intrigued by a reference to Journey into Light 1951, where he plays an egotistical Pastor who, after his alcoholic wife kills herself,
calls down his congregation, his bishop, and God ... Not available on Amazon and Not Available in stores, we watched it from a capture on YouTube!
Except for the obligatory happy ending, it was a pretty good film (a lost classic).

Gas-s-s-s (1970)
The military accidentally releases a gas that kills everyone over the age of 25 leaving the fate of the world to hippies who have to fight it out against the "squares". Shirley and Adrian show up. The lead actress, Elaine Giftos is adorable. The rest is, "what did I just watch?".

Stumbled across an Oldie but a Goldie...and it ended up being the latter for me.

It was "Prestige" (NETFLIX-2006) with Jackman and Bale, both illusionists, trying to outdo each other.

Engaging plot, slow but kept me on board.

Q
Absolutely - some feel the prime draw is David Bowie as Nicola Tesla ... one of his best roles!
I've got most of Nolan's films on the shelf ...
Been a fan of Christian Bale since Empire of the Sun

Knives Out.

Don Johnson and Jamie Lee Curtis are potential suspects in a "classic format" murder mystery.

Two thumbs up. One of the better modern movies I've seen lately.

The hardest part was believing the hard southern accent coming out of Daniel Craig's "consulting detective" mouth.

Speaking of Christian Bale - I ran across comments of him in the Terminator movies ...
I do own T2: Judgement Day - 1991, T3: Rise of the Machines - 2003, and T4: Terminator Salvation - 2009),
I don't actually own the final 2 films - (Terminator: Genisys (T5); and Terminator: Dark Fate (T6), So I looked them up on Amazon and saw they are free to view via Paramount + which I turned on recently for ST: Strange New Worlds Season 4 ... so I may queue them up after we finish binging Star City (SE01) on Apple TV tonight.
