Purchased a TFM35X and CT23 both new in 1996.
Both are still working well, although the amp (35) is much better built than the pre-amp/tuner (23).

Recently upgraded to Mac Integrated and kept the Carvers for a 2nd system.

I'm quite fond of the brand although not everyone is. I'm very pleased with my setup, it's by far the best stereo I've ever owned. I have two 575w monoblock Silver 9t, a 375w per TFM-55, and a 250 per TFM-35 amp. I drive a set of original Carver Amazings with the monoblocks, a set of Carver AL-III with the 55 and a center speaker plus a passive sub with the 35. The 35 drives an unbalanced load and the amp never complains. Everything runs pretty cool at high volumes considering its over 2000 watts RMS. Of course I don't run it at high volumes too often since its *very* loud, to say the least.

I know there are individuals on this forum that really hate the brand and I respect their opinion but I don't necessarily understand it. I can't imagine how much money I would have to spend to even incrementally improve on this system.

Carver M1.5t power amp here.... love it.

Powers my Cornwalls (100db @ 1w 1m) and Magnepan MGII's (85db @ 1.5w) just fine.

To be fair, a clock radio would drive such efficient speakers just fine.

Well... to be fair, I was making the point that it drives the easily driven & very sensitive cornwalls and the power hungry magnepans equally well...

How would the clock radio fare with the maggies?

poor fidelity and build quality makes for a real POS....have seen so many more dead carvers than anything else, especially the TFM series....
