I'm just happy to see the Secret Santa program grow each year. Up 55% over last year! It's a little bit of work, but it's lots of fun.

Chad, while I'm happy you like your new acquisitions, this thread is for the participants in the AK Secret Santa draw. A whole bunch of people signed up, I drew names, and each person buys a gift for their recipient. Big fun for everybody.

My special gift will be going out by Tuesday. Maybe as early as Monday but definitely not tomorrow. Definitely. Santa's elf was a little side tracked the last couple weeks. Poor Santa just can't seem to get good help sometimes.
 
Part one for mine will arrive on time, part two will be a bit late because of finals and school projects. Although part two is nothing terribly special.
 
Santa startled me, and I scored

So, today as I was decorating the xmas tree with the better half. I was concentrating on getting one of those stupid hooks into an ornament, when the doorbell nearly made me soil myself.

I answer the door and am greeted by the back of the mailman, because he didnt feel like waiting the 10 seconds it took me to answer the door, AND a square cardboard package!

It could only be that my secret santa gift had arrived. I argued for a couple minutes with the Mrs. on the merits of waiting till Xmas to open the gift. I wanted to be "that guy" who could actually wait, let the item sit under the tree, and be giddy xmas morning. Alas, the suspense killed me and the Mrs. laughed as she caught me cutting away the tape a short time later.

I do not know who you are on the forums yet, but thank you William!! (at least thats the return address name) You clearly did your threadwork and I couldn't be more excited. I cant wait to get these bad boys cleaned up and spinning. I'm amazed your found them. :music:

I wasn't sure I was going to be able to afford to do SS so I didn't sign up in time. I was a little disappointed, as I wasn't able to do it last year either.

Reading the posts, and the excitement you all have and the thought some of you put into your gifts .....it's great. I maybe got more from not signing up and reading these posts then I would have if I signed up. You all just warm the cockles of my wittle heart :thmbsp:
 
I got a really nice passive preamp! It has a nice machined aluminum volume knob and gold plated RCA jacks on the back. This will get put to good use!!

I have to say thanks again to Mysteryed. I've now had some time to listen to the headphones and in additon to sounding very good, they are very lightweight and comfortable.

And for those wondering, you can see a picture of the headphones in the self-portrait he's currently using as his avatar. :music:

Alan is too kind. The mannequin head I used in the avatar is much more photogenic. I have, as they say, a "face for radio". (all true of my old avatar... time passes :))

I am most pleased that you are enjoying the headphones, Alan. They do have a slight "Alien Headware" styling motif. I have enjoyed my pair for sometime now. The good news is that they come into their own after about 30 or 40 hours of playing. :) Perhaps I'll throw up a few pics of the Philips cans.
