What's with the Beatles Help record with Shell logo?

I've spotted what appears to be a reissue of this in 2 versions - Shell jacket with colour vinyl and Shell photo vinyl. What's with the Shell logo? It looks pretty so I'm tempted.

Thanks mate. Hmm I might consider a purchase. It looks cool. I used to have the original cover when I was little.

Do the Beatles reissues sound ok though?

Indeed, notice the poster even has it playing on a Philips turntable. Now that's showing his love for all things Dutch (Grinning).

Well, vinyl is a petroluem product, no? So in a way I guess it's appropriate. In a way.

Still, very, very strange.

I think it's because you have to shell out a lot more for the album now than when it was new.

Beatles Help! Rare Stereo Promotional LP (Holland - Parlophone 5C-062-04257, 1965).

This special issue of the HELP album was produced for Shell Oil in Holland for the kickoff of their 1979 “Shell Helps” campaign. As part of this promotion, Shell Oil arranged to produce a small number of these special versions of the Beatles’ HELP album to be given out at a company-wide meeting of their Dutch distributors and store managers. Less than 2000 copies were printed—-so unless you were a Shell Oil distributor or store manager in Holland in 1979, there’s a good chance you may have never seen one of these rarities in person.

Never before and never since have the Beatles allowed any of their official albums to have been given such a major cover artwork overhaul for a commercial promotion by another company. One can only wonder how this one managed to get approved.

Wasn't aware it was on yellow vinyl, but it only seems fitting.

The picture disc is a later issue, possibly a bootleg, and a lot more common.

I see... . From the late 1970s. The same era that allowed the bastardization of Sgt. Pepper's by the Bee Gees.

Freakin' figures... .

Forgive me, but as one who grew up with the Beatles, I hate to see this kind of thing.
