It was like this when I got it and if I knew how to readjust it, I would. The little screw on the top of the tonearm sits in a groove like you aren't supposed to adjust the twist of it so I don't know.
stylus actually looks like its sitting close to right, but the cart itself is way off. Might be a bent stylus.
The screw looks off level too, but parallel to the top of the headshell. Is there a screw or joint further back, maybe on the bottom side behind the headshell retainer screw? Might be out of kilter at the tonearm pivot. Hopefully its just a simple matter to fix, and not a twisted arm tube or damaged bearings.
My Dual was just like this , I called the guy at fixmydual and he instructed me to hold tight the tone arm and give the head a twist and it fixed it right up
The cart looks square with the headshell (front of cart body parallel with front of headshell) which is the way it should be on most of the straight pipe tonearms I've seen. But the headshell itself does not appear to be sitting properly on the tonearm; looks off center and definitely not parallel with the record.
Agree we need to know turntable/tonearm model info.
The headshell/cart is way off canter to the record, there is NO doubt. The fault is a tonearm head or pipe somehow twisted, DO NOT try to re-twist it without GOOD advice!
That tonearm looks from what I can see in the photograph to be like the one I have on a Fisher studio standard table i have atached to my home theater in the living room with the set screw behind the headshell is that what it is?
It would be helpful if you had a direct, head on shot of the front of the cartridge to see if the headshell is mounted level on the tonearm, thus level with the record/platter/plinth/etc.
If your tonearm appears to be level I have a feeling that the headshell needs to be rotated ever so slightly to make the cartridge and stylus perfectly perpendicular (90 degrees) with the record/platter/plinth. You probably just need to loosen that black thumbscrew and rotate the headshell mount slightly counterclockwise.
The stylus doesn't look bent to me and appears to be in proper alignment with the cartridge.
The screws on the bottom opposite the locking knob should be what hold the headshell mount to the arm tube. try loosening them a smidge to see if the headshell will easily rotate back to where it belongs. If it does, snug the screws back down.
