What's your latest audio purchase?

Last audio purchase

Just bought a "MINT" Onkyo M-505 stereo amplifier (77-82). Now, I just need to find the matching P-303 preamplifier.

In the past two weeks I have spent three or four times my income on albums. Many replacing ones I was retarded enough to have sold before a move half way round the world in 84

I just picked up a late 80's fisher 100watt amp (fairly clean from the specs) with the separate proprietary tuner and tape deck, includes the obligatory giant fisher speakers that dont sound too bad historically - big woofers move big air. cant go live without them.

and I got the cabinet they came in. and a tv, and my target, the pioneer 6 disc cd player.

the auction caller poked em all up, $20 had to take everything.

grrrr.

the furniture should recoup my 20....then flip out the fisher stuff so I can concentrate on the one dang thing I wanted.

On the plus side, same auction got 5 handheld cd radios including 3 of the radio shack 4 watt units for $10. now THAT was a score...

Within the last two weeks, I've picked up a NAD 1600 preamp/tuner. It was mint, but FedEx managed to dent in the upper right hand corner of the face. I took the top off, straightened the chassis, and glued the broke corner. A little Bondo, sanding and touch-up, and it will be good as new. Then, picked up a low mileage NAD 5100 CD Player complete with remote and manual for $65.00. Finally, I've bid on two rare as hen's teeth NAD System Remote Control units on ePay. The first one was NIB, and went for $100.00, the second had no labeling whatsoever and I bowed out of bidding at $30.00. Finally, a few minutes ago, I found one in like new condition for $25.00 with By It Now. Lucky Me!

I found a Denon DL-303 NIB from a fella locally. At first I was a little skeptical that he actually had this but the orange seal strips that they used then were still on. Then he showed me the Ortofon MC-20 Super that was NIB. All I know is I'm going back there. He had a lot more.

Just bought one of the smallest and earliest silver-faced Pioneer receivers, the SX-424 with a monstrous 12 watts per channel. It will go in my office, replacing a Realistic STA-860 that's going to a friend.

Also just picked up a Sony TC-KA1ESA as a backup 3-head Dolby S cassette deck, and a Sony CDP-CA7ES CD carousel.

So nothing exotic. Just useful pieces. :)

Those SX-424's are nice sounding little units. I had one once with a pair of AR 4X speakers. Great sound, you'll be happy with it.

2385:

I'm just warming up to my new/old Marantz 2385 and what a BEAST it is!:thmbsp:
I've been strictly Vintage Silver Pioneer until now so it's really surprising to have this but wow:)

180 lb polk monsters in my avatar. It was within a hair of being a tubed Raysonic 168 cd player just yesterday. Damned priorities.

I bought a set of them new in the 80's. Yeah 180 is definitely isnt what you will move everyday. At 1000 watts each...you will not ever have anything blow them. I do believe when I bought mine...they was with taxes 1386.00 each. i worked an entire summer to pay those things off.

If you got a pair of 1.2tl's in the 80's for $1,400 each then you pretty much stole em:yes: MSRP was close to $1,700 each.
Actually moving them wasn't as bad as it could be. I have felt pads on their feet so they slide around without too much effort. Carrying them out of the PO's home now that was a different story.

Picked up a extra JBL 2245h 18in driver, for my next project and if that does not work, then it will be a good spare.

Bought 4 Genesis 700 speakers to replace my Infinities in the surround system. They will go nicely with my APMs.

Also, bought but haven't received yet, a Sony STR-DB930 receiver. I had the 830 and it was a great receiver. Went to my daughter.
