funny thing i look at these and wonder who buys these things when shipping is outrageous and your chances of getting screwed are high i have yet to see any thing i would be interested in so i keep looking stateside to cure my tube preamp jones

There are a couple of ways to avoid the gray marketers if looking for something cheap.
Look for a company that sells direct themselves. YS-Audio (Audio Experience Preamps), and Ideal Innovations come to mind. Just depends on what side of the sea you wish to shop from. Ideal Innovations is in Canada, YS-Audio is in Hong Kong.
You'll pay a tad more than the bargain basement stuff but at least you'll have a warranty that is good for something.
