Can someone please point out the trim cap in this pic so I can try and align the dial and digital readout on my G5700. Also how do I do this ? I have an idea but just to be sure..thanks

Go to HiFi engine or here http://elektrotanya.com/?q=showresult and download the service manual and you will find the procedure in there.......

Page 3 step 5 adjustment of TC06.........FM, IF RF adjustment and dial calibration procedure.

Kevzep...Thanks for your replies , this is my first time here at Sansui and it appears you contribute here a lot. Thanks.

Only the conductor side of the circuit board is shown..I searched but could not find the Trim Cap (TC) 06

UPDATE...I just remembered that the components are actually identified on the component side of the board. I saw a trim pot that is labeled T06 ( Not shown in the pic above) and I take it that must be the trim pot for the dial adjustment. Correct me if I am wrong..In any case I will adjust a bit in the morning and see what happens.

It's the blue one. Check the manual where it shows "other parts" with a picture.

You will see it there.

Hey Robisme...thanks ...will check this out first thing in the morning. Saw it on the pdf schematic...other parts...Regards

Did The adjustment this morning using a plastic screw driver...spot on now after tuning...just one thing though and that is when close to the frequency the help arrows point in the direction to "fine tune" but I find it takes too much movement to achieve this...is this normal or perhaps i should clean the tuner contacts again?

Tuning issue

I cleaned and lubricated the tuner again but there is still a "slack" when tuning. I think there is a bit of slippage , though minor. When I rotate the tuning knob , lets say 10-20 degrees I really dont see much of a movement at the tuner. I think I will clean the dial cord with alcohol (absolute) which I have and see if this makes a difference. Is there a tension adjuster somewhere? Here is a pic of the tuning cap. Thank yous guys !

Update...its not the dial cord but the gearing mechanism on the tuner, maybe it is worn.

Not the dial cord - damn ! - I was going to suggest beeswax for that.

If there is slack in the mechanism - there is usually a spring device that takes the slack out of the gear drive to the tuning capacitor - perhaps there is a problem with that? - I think I can just see the spring for this device at the front of the tuning cap in your picture...

Check the tightness of the pulleys - the slack you describe seems a lot...

Looks like the pully on the tuning gang is slipped out. Try pushing it back in. They slide in and out a bit, and I have seen play in them when they are pulled out a bit.

Rob

Yes..it was indeed the pulley that was out a bit. I pushed it in and now it appears true and tuning is much , much , better now..Well it seems I have pretty much covered all the issues I had with this receiver. I am still bummed out that there isn't a dial light on the right side . In any case the one and only one on the left side is a tad too bright for me at night so I cut a piece of sky blue colored gel and placed it in front of the bulb. Here are some pics in FM and phono mode...I cant thank you fellow Akers enough. Cheers
