Why does a DD motor slow down after playing a while?

Heat and expansion of bearing surfaces contributes to what also may be power supply problems.

Looks like you are the winner here! The original lube in the platter bearing is not doing it's job anymore.

I drilled 2 hole and added some drive oil.
Still testing...

Thanks,

Hi, Looks like this was the problem.. Bearing lube..on a sealed bearing.

So, now I will have a fully rebuilt PX-100 TT. I am going to polish the platter up real good and fix the base shipping damage.

This has realy been fun and a learning experience.

Thank you ALL..

Merry Christmas!

Well congrats! Now you know the caps wont be a problem for at least a few cartridges worth of play:thmbsp: Just don't forget to check on the lube issue once in a while now that you had to drill holes and "unseal" the bearing.

Glad it worked out well for ya!

Thank you for your support. It was a fun repair and it sounds great with the Shure N91ED cart on her. I am going to lube it some more and I may add a tube so the lubing is easy! from the top. I kinda new this as and issue when turning the spindle by hand.
I will post a pic when it is completed.

Thanks,
