Why is there no abbreviation for "electrolytic capacitor"?

Accumulator makes sense because they accumulate more voltage the longer they are connected to a source of voltage.
A capacitor or condenser accumulate electrons ( coulombs) at a rate that depends on the available potential (voltage) and the impedance (resistance) in the path of the flow of the electrons :)

There is a fundamental difference. An accumulator ("Akku") or battery stores electrons by means of a reversible chemical reaction. A capacitor just stores electrons. Hence the much lower capacity (geddit?) but also the possibility of releasing those electrons very fast.

Yeah that was largely a prewar term but it faded out gradually. Riders tends to call them out as condenser, Sams says capacitor. Fair guess the changeover goes along with Riders going away and Sams becoming the norm.

I'm very glad the Italians stopped making resistors in the 30s. Using M for thousand was dumb.
No it´s not. "Mille" means Thousand. Wen we Germans say we have payed €5000,- for something we say "Ich habe 5 Mille dafür gezahlt".
