I don't know. Maybe when I don't have to pay for someone's else's stupidity, I'll agree, but right now it's a good enough reason to curtail not risky, but stupid, behavior. And loose kids in shopping carts and 70 mph wheelies on public highways are both poor decisions on the part of certain "adults"

There ARE a few people who are talented enuff to be able to get away w/stunts like this; However, I'd think most of those realise that a public road is NOT the place to be attempting these hi-jinks. You need every ounce of concentration on the task at hand, not worrying about some yahoo stalled in the road ahead of you, some snot-nosed kid wandering in front of you, or a chug-hole that opened up from last night's storm.
 
Some hot shots think THEY are immune to accidents on a motorcycle!?
Jezz....it all happens SO FAST!!
One second you're enjoying the breeze on your face....the next second you're bouncing down the road with your own damm bike bouncing right behind you!!

God it is so fricken dangerous, last year I rode a bike a little to see if I
wanted to buy it or not? My neighbor let me take it for a week. I took it back
and told him thank you very much for the offer. The last motorcycle that I owned I was on Interstate 5 doing the speed limit in the rain 60mph when a
woman putting on make-up cut right in front of me. I skidded over 150 feet and didn't lay it down, but I was damn near needing a clean pair of shorts.
I haven't owned a motorcyle since ----
 
One year I rode in the "Ride For Kids" out of Columbia, Maryland....maybe 600-700 motorcycles.
A couple a few bikes ahead of me were riding a Honda Goldwing.
A big deer comes sailing fast from out of the trees....and just nails them!!
Down they went....deer just gets right up....and darts back into the trees!
The couple on the Goldwing were OK....but the bike had some minor damage.
Even the animals hate us!!

I've always wondered what happens when you lay a Goldwing-or a big Electra-Glide down ? If you're not hurt, do you lay there & cry anyway, knowing you've just boinked a megabux bike ? Lotsa those things look like the people who own 'em keep 'em in their living rooms & use feather dusters on 'em...They're more nutso about 'em than I am about my Boatanchors...How do you get one of those 2-wheel Cadillacs back up, especially considering a lot of the folks you see ridin' them aren't exactly spring chickens, & they're big, heavy machines ?
 
I'm not usually in favor of safety laws (great ideas, bad laws) but there really should be a scale in what kind of bike riders can own- there is no way a 18 year old should be on a 'busa. A great bike, but it will easily turn 150 mph. New riders should be on smaller bikes until they get some experience. Hell, I've ridden for 30 years and these bikes have more power than I want to handle.

You might be surprised.. a lot of people have more money in their HD's than than some do in their Gold Wings.. However, there are those that do have a mint into their wings..

I've easily got into my bike, what a goldwing costs new, or really damn close to it...

As far as picking them up, if you know how, it's possible.. I know a lady that rides a gold wing... she's probably 5'5" and weighs maybe 125... and she can pick up her wing. Not she has to on purpose, but she said unless she can pick it up herself she won't ride it... If you know how, they really aren't that bad...

My bike is close to 800 lbs, and I've picked it up on several occasions by my self.. however, if you don't know how.. you're not gonna do it...

Best way, is place your back to the bike, with your butt right about where the seat is, then walk backwards while lifting.. I've got a few other ways too, crossing up the bars while facing it.. but walking it up backwards is the easiest..
 
I dont even know what this post started with but heres my answer anyhow.
When I started riding in the 70`s it was allot different then today.
Drivers of autos and motorbikes took pride in their driving.
People actually used turn signals back then..Even used hand signals.
If anyone wonders why bikes split lanes its because they are air cooled and need to keep air constantly flowing around the cylinders allways to keep them cool.
Some bikers dont know that and they split lanes just because they can.
Anyways...Is someone upset with bikers?

I first started motorcycling in 1980 when I was introduced to this custom by a bike riding friend. It was kinda cool at the time - you know - "be friendly to your brother biker". But I assure you there were a lot fewer bikes on the road back then! A lot fewer four wheelers to avoid, too. :cool:
