I’ve got a JBL 123A-1 woofer from an L100 speaker that the voice coil is rubbing. Is there any hope for this? Is there anyway To repair it? Thank you in advance for your help.

I've been able to replace the voice coil in 123A woofers. If the cone is still in good shape, they can be readily rebuilt... saving the original cone.

Regards,
Gordon.

If you recall the original orientation of the woofer when mounted you could try rotating it 180 degrees, let sit for a few day in warm environment, then check again. Might be a slight spider sag in the old orientation.

If that doesn’t work, send it off to GordonW, Bill Miller, or Ken Haerr at Upland Loudspeaker in California. Ken can rebuild with new spider and VC if needed.
