Worst food product ever?

The delicacy known where I grew up as "scrapple" is known in southern North Carolina as "liver mush". Of this confection, it's long been said that it contains all of the leftovers from pig processing except the squeal.

For the record: I like scrapple.

disgusting as that is ("Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease in a Can"), it's a bit of a niche product.

My vote goes to Easy Cheese (or "Squirty Cheese" as we referred to it). We once actually bought a can when we were traveling out West (perhaps we'd been in the hot, hot desert sun a little too much).

There's nothing like 3 or 4 good friends, a box of saltines, cheese in a can and some bottles of Boones Farm and a campfire. :D

We once used that cheese whiz stuff on burgers while on a camping trip.
Not great but worked in a pinch.
BBQ vienna sausages and potted meat yuck !!!

Potted Meat Food Product is what the can said when I was a kid. Anything that had to be labeled "food product" makes you wonder...

There's a lot of this crap now that's made of "mechanically separated meat". I've started avoiding those products. You look at almost any sausage or lunch meat product, the expensive ones will have real meat, and the cheaper ones will have this mechanized puree. Uh-uh.

I'd probably eat pork brain again before I'd go near head cheese, blood sausage or braunschweiger. I'd say braunschweiger is probably the worst, 50% pig fat and 50% pig liver. We called it cat food.

I LOVES braunschweiger or liver sausage.

Grandma used to get the good stuff with the thick casing and stitches from Usinger's on 3rd St. in Milwaukee and we'd eat if for lunch on hard rolls.

:yuck: Seriously. Who the hell would eat that unless it was on a dare?
Tom

PS Of course, this wouldn't make a half-bad avatar...

I have never had pork brains in milk gravy, however, I grew up eating pork brains mixed in with scrambled eggs. My dad introduce this to me. It is delicious .

Oh yeah...and then I'd go to the little cheese shop across the street for the best limburger in the world.

There was also a real, genuine Kosher Delicatessen in Richmond called Boulevard Deli on Broad Street that served tongue sandwiches...That, w/Swiss, piled high on rye was some FINE eatin'... And yes, I've HEARD of Mountain Oysters all my life...They're sposed to be rather palatable sliced & fried, but I've never had the pleasure. One time, this HUGE turtle came crawling out of the river on our farm..One of the guys shot him, the tenant's family ate from that thing for several days...There's sposed to be 7 different "flavors" of meat in a turtle, but again, I've never had the pleasure..

If they put swiss cheese on the tongue, it wasn't kosher...period

My grandfather loved head cheese and blood pudding and a whole slew of unpalatable garbage. But by far the worst was vegemite. Thank God I wasn't raised in the UK where they actually force feed this crap to kids as some sort of vitamin supplement. I'd rather die then taste that foul tasting spread again.

.....one time a waitress at a Mom & Pop restaurant told me the special for that day was fried sliced cow tongue with gravy, open-faced on bread....I looked at her and said, "Lady, you can FORGET that, I won't eat ANYTHING that comes out of a COW'S MOUTH!"....she said ok, and asked me what I'd rather have....I said, "just bring me a couple-three eggs" :D......

ok this may not be the worst food product ever.. but the name sure makes it seem that way..

Spotted Dick sponge pudding :yikes::wtf::yuck:

it's a real product too. I saw this in the Asian supermarket, but didn't have the balls to buy it. get it balls? :D

Yeah, eggs are way better! :lmao:

For kicks,I took a can of those pork brains on a camping trip to the
infield at Talladega Motor Speedway about 20 years ago. Nobody
not even the drunks would touch that stuff.

I wouldn't think it possible to ever get that drunk!
