Worth buying Marantz SR1000 Receiver ?

Hi. I wanted to take up my first fixer project. I found a Marantz SR1000 and talked him down to $20. Physically it looks good but the seller said the sound is very low. For $20 is it worth fixing up?

BOTL Philips era Marantz with a masonite bottom, if that helps you out. I'd pass, even if it were free.

Well, if you could get it for half of that, it would be good for learning on. If you wanted to learn how to recap and solder properly, it would make a great practice receiver. But as far as making it the center of a vintage audio world, I don't think so.

Thanks for the input. I don't think the guy is going to go to $10, his asking was $35. I'm going to checkout the thrift stores next weekend... maybe I'll find a better bargain.
