Y splitting from pre amp or amp

Hello I am bi amping 2 amps for infinity speakers. I use the regular rca off my pre amp and a splinter at each rca into the amp. It works well I think especially if the cables are long enough. If those are your infinity’s in your profile be sure to check the infinity speaker forum. Welcome.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that your two options are in fact the same thing! What's the difference between a Y out from the preamp and a Y into the amps?

Ur right pretty much the same thing it would work either way but I need the length of the regular rca and then put a splitter on each end. Since most splitters are very short. My crude drawing included.

Actually, I was responding to Sound Armour's original post. But I can see from your diagram that you are using one amp for each channel, and that will work, although I don't know whether there's actually much advantage to doing it that way. The other way it is sometimes done is to use an electronic crossover network, so that instead of having one amp for each channel, you have one amp for higher frequencies, and another for the lower frequencies.

I have what look like the above Monsters but in a Vampire "croyo" version and no I can't tell they were frozen
by the sound, but they do measure low capacitance where the some typical Y's can have high readings
that might affect a phono application.

S_A: If I interpret your question correctly, my answer would be, that this would depend on the physical arrangement of the involved components as well as whether you'd use self-made y-cables, ready-made y-cables (and which type (short/long split)) or cables plus splitters and also on the particular components. Assuming a typical arrangement (pre-amp farther away, the two power-amps (or each pair of the four mono-blocks) closer together), you could certainly save some cable length by splitting at/closer to the first power amp/mono block instead of at/closer to the pre-amp - though at the cost of having at least one more contact transition on the way to the second power amp, unless you'd use/make yourself a short-split y-cable.

Or in other words: I could only tell you, which approach I'd prefer in your situation, if I knew more details about your intended set-up. However, in practice the differences wouldn't really be that significant anyway - and then, what would seem most ideal from a technical point the view would still not be guaranteed to also be most to your taste.

Greetings from Munich!
