 Ok guys the event you've all been waiting for. Yesterday abou 10:00am we fueled up yhe truck and began our journey to Palm Desert, which is 230 miles round trip(with gas now at $3.10 a gallon :tears: .)We get lost right about the Palm Springs area, so we call the store to help us out w/ directions. The lady helps us get back on track and then asks "which item are you comming out for?" We tell her the Yamaha CR-2020, she replies" oh, you mean that big heavy one?" "It's on the counter waiting for you.we were wondering when you were comming to pick it up." Well needless to say I felt like a criminal loading it up in the truck. They were very polite and didn't mention anything the buy it now situation.

P.S. Its a complete cherry! :thmbsp:

P.S.S. I'll post some pics in about an hour.

Well, where are the pics???? Does it work???? What happened????

Well, on the lamps...my guess is that you saved a little bit of $$ on the purchase price for a few bulbs (plus 250 extras?). Excellent purchase! I hope you enjoy it...mine was SLIGHTLY more expensive!

Check the DC and idling current...have fun cleaning the ol' CR up--looks great!

GOOD JOB!!! Welcome to the CR-2020 Owner's Club....a nice place to be. I think you'll have to agree that you're going to have to search far and wide for a nicer souding Receiver than the CR-2020. Personally, I consider it to be the best of Yamaha's vintage Stereos. The CR-2040 is a bit of a step down in appearance and build quality. And, the CR-2020 even has a better overall balance than the much more expensive CR-3020, which is rated at only 60 wpc more, which in sonic terms, is actually rather negligible. I remember hearing both compared together a long time ago and the CR-2020 was the unambiguous winner. The CR-3020 suffered from the same problem as most of the Big Boys in that the Bass was overpowering such that the sound was "muddy" and somewhat "dark", although not on the level of the SX-1980. So, you've got yourself a great sounding unit and have every reason to be HAPPY!!!!!
