I'm searching for a BA3122N HCA IC for my MX-2 left channel, does anyone know where I can get one?BA3122N.JPG

Contact a Yamaha service center or Yamaha directly. Yamaha part number XG609A00
 
I tried contacting Yamaha once and got the run around, but I didn't use the part number above. I try with above yamaha part number. Here's their first response:

Sadly, due to the age of your Yamaha product, MX-2 parts are no longer available through Yamaha and there are no substitute, universal or replacement item/s available to replace them upon verification with the Japan parts house website.

I repaired the faults in the V-AMP that caused the problem and the faulty component is the left channel current-amp (several diodes and a few transistors). Everything powers up fine, but the left won't channel wont let me set the idle current. V-AMP right and left outputs play fine through the right channel. I didn't even try the left channel since I couldn't set the idle current. Here's a picture of the V-AMP damage:

Did you replace that burnt fusible resistor?

It's been a few months, I'll have to check. The picture is from the Main 1 board with the V-AMP section, I know the idle current set fine on the right channel with the main board disconnected, the left channel would not set at all (stayed at zero).

Avionic, good catch on the resistor. It was R63 (100 ohm), the positive voltage of the signal V0 for the left channel. I'll have to hook everything back up and check for idle current adjustment. Thanks!
 
I put the good BA3122N chip from the Right channel in the left channel, now the left channel seems to be working. I was able to set the idle current per the service manual. That pretty much narrows the problem down to a bad BA3122N chip, does anyone have one to sell me?

Sorry, but how is that response "the run around". It seems to me a polite and helpful reply from a company that is no longer able to support an obsolete component for a piece of equipment that hasn't been made for 20 years! What exactly were you expecting?

FYI, I did a little looking and this chip seems to be prevalent in many of the AX- model receivers as well. Perhaps a wise person would do well to snatch up any parts unit they come across if they can verify its presence.
