Yamaha newbie A-700 resto thread

I've been using copper foil lately. Strip all that old foam and adhesive from the transformers with a single edge blade. Wipe 'em down with acetone. And apply ......

. Have ya noticed less xfmr hum per chance? Do ya add foam on top of the copper foil later?
Thanks

On the M -80/85. The flippin transformers generate more heat than the heatsinks . At idle ! Why trap the heat inside the cabinet with more foam / insulation..

Cleaning the glue from the two old caps on the preamp board was the worst part of it all, but thankfully the only thing it ate was the jumpers next to the caps. The legs from those new caps worked perfectly as new ones.

Ya got a lot done in a short time. Takes me a bit longer lol. Boards look great. Nice WIMA farm.
Thanks! I really want to hear what this is gonna sound like so I'm more motivated than I normally would be.

Some of the new caps are KEMET, there's some values WIMA didn't have in stock. I think there's a Vishay I had to use on the main board too.

Seeing those old resistors next to the brand new parts on the board really is tempting me, but I gotta stop... Don't need to sink any more money into this lol

Will you wind up replacing the faceplate, or just repair/adjust the input pushbutton alignment issue?

I'll use the new one. I can't figure out how to bend the button back to the right spot, and other than the missing plastic pieces the new one looks a little better anyways.
