Yamaha NS-1000 what solid state would suite

I have heard that the Yamaha Ns-1000 are best suited to the Yamaha B-1/B-2 amp.

What other solid state amps would suit?

Im currently using a Pioneer sx-1050, but i dont think this is the best option for the Ns-1000. The reason i say this is that a pair of Pioneer cs-60 speakers sound so much better then the Ns-1000.

What options do i have?

Maybe there's something wrong with your 1000's? Mine sound so good!

A Yamaha M-4 is another good fit with the 1000's. :thmbsp: :yes: :D

Any amp with a strong bias into class A operation would likely work well with the NS-1000. I'd not use the Pioneer, personally.
 
The NS-1000 will make average amps sound worse and great amps sound better. Amp must be fast and accurate. Look for high damping factor and slew rate specifications.
 
I use mine sometimes with a Pass Aleph 5 which sounds very smooth with well controlled bass. 60 Watts/channel class A seems plenty for my listening space.

I have heard the 1000's with an M85 using a NAD cd player and they sounded very good!

Agreed, the NS-1000M sounds terrific with tubes. I have a MC275V with Gold Lion Reissues and the sound is superb! Alas, the OP is asking about SS.
 
I am currently running a Quad 405/2 with new caps and the sound is marvelous--full, immediate, detailed and deep. More like a tube amp than most imo. Best tubes so far in my experience: Heathkit W6Ms w/ Gold Lion KT88s and Quicksilver mini monos w/GE6550As. The Heath has the ability to really master those light paper woofers and I agree great damping is an asset. Still amazes me after 8 months!
 
yamaha ns-1000's which solid state to use?

well in my opinion,and i have one of these, a sansui au-g99x. black,metal,cool power meters. no frills just everything you need. selectable phono switch for both types,.005 thd. all the headroom you could ever want. high damping factor. 160 wpc. still moderately priced even on the bay.
 
Listing the Best Yamaha Amps for NS-1000 Speakers

What would you list as the best Yamaha Amps for the NS-1000s.

From what people have said the B-1 and B-2 would both be the first options either way. What other Yamaha's are up there for the Ns-1000s?

I use a Yamaha MX-1 power amp on my NS-1000Ms, and find it to be a great combination. It has the power to do whatever I need for my application. They're not terribly common, but can be found if one has patience.

Yamaha has so many excellent amps in the good old days. Here are some that are not too exclusive/expensive:

MX-1000U (classic design, 260wpc, matching number :D)
MX-830 (simple and effective, 170wpc)
MX-1 (newer design, 200wpc)
B-6 (unique and cool pyramid design, 200wpc)

M-2 or PC2002M, hands down. The MX-1000U is marginally less accurate than the PC2002M and twice as much money. The MX-830 is rather ordinary. Don't know about the MX-1. The B-6 looks interesting but I also don't know much about.
