Yamaha PC5002M extremely rare

I don't recall where I read it, but I could swear I read something about UPS or FedEx "white glove" service.

If you insure something for like $5K, which doesn't really add all that much extra cost for a somewhat rare piece, they take extra special care of it in shipping. Sorta like hand carried through the system, instead of tossed on a conveyor belt. However, the weight of that amp packaged may push it over the limits for certain types of delivery.

Wish I could put my finger on where I saw that...

whoaru,
I'll confirm that I read the same thing,but I can't confirm that it is correct(or not). :scratch2:

As far as I know I'm buying it. I've talked to the seller several times and exchanged emails. Just waiting now for him to arrange shipping and get me the total cost.

The PC5002M weighs 134lbs. It is undoubtedly the finest pro amp Yamaha manufactured, although the PC4002M is no slouch when it comes to build & sound quality.

How is the PC5002M purchase going???

From an email I got from the seller on 11/3:

I will probably go with a one-stop deal. There is a company in Arlington (about 20 miles away) that specializes in crating and shipping heavy sensitive electronic gear. If I can get some help to get it to arlington, then I think we are in business. I have been playing phone tag with them, but I hope to speak to them tomorrow to get a quote that includes insurance, packing and shipping.

I will relay any information as soon as I can get it.

Thanks for the update I hope you can find the time to post some pics after you receive it and if not a problem a few inside pics also. I'd like to compare the inside of the PC5002M to my PC4002M.I'm sure the inside needs cleaned anyway. The previous owner of my PC4002M said it was checked out not long before I bought it, and when I took the back panel off to straighten it after Fed Ex mishandled it it really needed cleaned. Again thanks for taking the time to update the purchase progress.

Holy crap -- I'd love one of those! :thmbsp: What are the specs on that beast? Can only imagine what it pumps out in mono. Love to hear more about it when you've got your sweaty paws on it (well, I know that mine would be sweaty, anyway).

Make that two of us -- love to hear what you think of it when you get it (though I bet that I already know! :thmbsp:).

I'm like a junkie sitting here needing a fix waiting on the amp to arrive and hear what you have to say about it and to see pics. Before too long I'll be getting the shakes like Iam going through withdraws...lol

You'll have to wait a bit to drop your PC4002M at UPS for me, I have to be out of town next week...

:D

The shipping company called me today to arrange a delivery time on Monday. I asked if I could pick it up today. Short answer, yes, and I did. :D When I got there I had them unstrap the box from the pallet and give me a hand loading it into the back of my car. The packaged weight is 158lbs, and I won't be able to get it in the house until tomorrow when I can get some help with it. It looks like it's well packed.

Hey,
I told you that we'd have to feel sorry for whoever has to tote that thing around... :D

If you need a hand let me know. I'm around all day tomorrow.
I appreciate the offer. I think I've got it covered.

There was a time many years ago when I wouldn't have had any problem man-handling a bulky 158lb box like this. On the other hand, back then I couldn't have afforded this amp. :D My brother-in-law will give me a hand with it tomorrow.
