Yamaha "Soavo" speaker lineup?

Not that I'm needing more speakers, but while perusing the Yamaha website for other reasons I noticed these.

Yamaha Soavo speakers


Has anyone checked them out?

Hi, pretty obscure, good reviews in HiFi World = possibly a great used buy, rgds, sreten.

Note the coaxial mid/tweeter, somewhat akin to the Theil design.

With Yamahas expertise in musical insturments, pianos, saxaphones, guitars etc. it would stand to reason they could manufacture first rate speakers. It's not like they haven't in the past.

The have had decent reviews.Not that that means a lot.Specifics of almost all review systems usually mean that the results are only true for that system/room.

I look at the entire system that the reviewer is using.The item under review is made to play a part in a bigger play.How it interacts(electrically as well as sonically) will to a large degree determine whether the review is positive or negative.

I assess the review.Then I treat the results(of my assessment)as a rough indicator.

I don't want to labour the point, but your saying reviews are meaningless,
(to a degree they are), but that a series of poor reviews in a series of
different systems does not mean they might likely be basically poor ?

Not just these speakers, any speakers, I simply cannot agree.

There is no coaxial speaker in the Soavo.

Look more closely at a blown-up picture of the smaller speaker with the light cabinet.

It's not a coax, just a shallow waveguide for the tweeter.
