First off, it's nice to communicate with like-minded people who enjoy great audio, a little quality gadgetry and classic vinyl, among other things...I am impressed [actually intimidated] by the amount of knowledge here on AK.
I feel like many of the members have learned things the hard way, and I might learn something if I observe quietly. Finally, I can remember so many fiends and acquaintances from the 1970s and 80s who talked about and had this stuff, but I was too ignorant to understand. So it's catch-up time.

Well, in my case, I had never known of A/K, and other audio related forums, though I knew that they were out there, just was not interesting to me, and I didn`t require any internet based technical assistance/product information for anything.

But, almost every time, the past almost 6, or 7 yrs. ago. when I was on the phone with Audio Classics Ryan Kilpatrick during whatever conversation we were having, he would ask me, if I was familiar with a Audio Forum call Audio Karma, and that I should look into joining it as there are a bunch of HiFi audio based, like minded folks there..

So I put off going to the A/K site for several yrs. I, guess I was bored, one day, and went to the site, and lurked around it`s various sections, trying to see if I could get a feel for "Social network" type forums, especially since I had never been interested in any, and especially "Fart Book", though a good portion of my friends were addicted to it !!

So about 3 or 4 yrs. ago, after becoming comfortable with it`s setup/members, I decided to dive in, without bothering to post my arrival in the introductions segment, oh well, what the Hell, I`ve been told by more than few folks, that I "March to a Different Drummer" ! So Sue me !

The older one becomes, the less little things matter, or even should even be cared about !!

I selected sharing experiences with others but def check this site for tech info.

Finally having time to work the old chassis I've been carrying around for years and getting back to operational spec is wonderful.
I could not have accomplished this without audiokarma.org.

Thx!

Wonderful, supportive and very knowledgeable group -- I am glad to participate -- learning all the time

I know more than most, but I am always trying to learn more.
Nothing better than having a place with a conglomeration of knowledgeable folk willing to share what they know.

2020 - initial draw was getting back into the hobby and researching things i remembered about those devices and 8/10 of the time the web referred me here
2021 - learning how to fix all my acquisitions from the previous year (learning electricity/electronics/solid-state electronics repair)
2022 - some repair threads, Bartertown for media, some of the Post a Pic about X threads to expand the knowledge and get a chuckle sometimes

I couldn't pick just one answer in the poll, it's many things combined.
I meet and converse with others who have the same interests I do, I learn many things about the new and old (sometimes whether I want to or not, LOL!)
And lets face it, it's always nice when you find even just a few people that have the same taste in music as you do and can both recall
the Good Ole Day's as you do.

My main draw is the fact that the folks here share the same interest in vintage audio that I do. My brother and myself are the only people I know personally that share this love. AK is a great place for me to share my love of vintage with people who actually care.

Being here is one of the great pleasures of my life.

Thanks for being here.

Everything mentioned above and learning about new to me old equipment and researching it. So much excellent equipment I never new existed and plenty I do know. AK Thank You for boarding my horizons more and more everyday...well may not...everyday but almost.

Learning how to keep my gear running and trying not to be envious of others while lusting after the finer
possessions of theirs. Then there are those who can't help being snooty responding your call for help. Sorta
reminds me of Volbeat's Still counting, I must be a glutton for punishment.

I am a loser with more time on my hands than I know what to do with it. But seriously, the knowledge and combined experience, especially pertaining to music, is what I find most impressive and worth my time.

I'm a confessed audio junkie.

It shows that this post is 16 years old already, dating back from the dawn of vintage audio's gradual rebirth as a now relatively popular hobby even with younger generations who never lived in the 70's but discovered the era's goodies via the internet then took on raiding pawn shops and Goodwills to see what it was all about with these old -and thus supposedly outdated- weird-looking appliances often encased in wood, real or fake, when it wasn't tubes oddly sticking out of them. Could those antiquated contraptions sound better than the consumer-grade plastic stuff they grew up with? You betcha.
