Your Favorite 8 inch 2-Way Speakers

Ok then may I enter my Smaller Advents with the spit wad woofer. Technically they call it a 8.5". For what these are they sound great- will they compete with a 8" Dynaudio-nope?

I really do think they have a better all around sound than the large Advents which I've had a few pair.

Of course they do, Andy (Boston Acoustics) Kostatos voiced them. :)

Phase Tech PC600HO. Tight bass, non-fatiguing highs, great mids. I also like my Human 81's. According to Huw Powell's website the Human 81 are descended from the EPI-100.
.
I have a pair of Human 81’s and they are very good. I recently bought a rebuild kit from Huw for my old EPI model 100’s that I bought new in 1971. I plan on doing the rebuild sometime next week.

The Harbeth C7s I recently sold were possibly a match for the Martin Logan Vistas I mention in this thread some years ago. There was a person mentioned Harbeth Monitor 30s; many think they better the C7.

The only ones I have (I think?)

Behringer B2031P converted for true biamp input (crossover removed, input via Speakon NL4 jack).

Mission 770s. The most detailed and accurate 2-way speaker I have ever heard. Very revealing, sometimes too revealing, especially with bad recordings or source equipment. They didn't earn the "monitor speakers" moniker for nothing. Very impressive bass response from just a single 8" woofer.

closely followed by :

KEF 104aBs. Very similar sound to the Missions, with slightly more pronounced midrange and softer treble.

Of all my speakers, these two are at tippy top

My favorite is the Altec 887A Capri (Mini Monitor II). These speakers have a very sharp detailed sound with flat frequency response. Highs are crisp and accurate and they reproduce lows with strength and body that's not expected from a speaker of this size. So much so that it almost can go toe to toe with my Cornwalls! The enclosure is done very nicely with an oiled walnut veneer which still looks like new after all these years!

Very similar, I have Epicure Model 10's with a Sony 6065...the Epicures were an "upscale " EPI 100 with the exact same internals but with a wood cabinet, or so I think...is that a Sony 6065 you have?
Yea, these EPI's are the 100W (for wood). They have the nice walnut veneer, as seen in my avatar pic. The receiver is a Sansui 1000x. They make beautiful sound.

I'm running a WiiM into a Topping DAC into the AUX of the Sansui.

Not quite 8-inch.

Only a 7-inch woofer, but I'll take my CSS Criton 1TD-X kits over most vintage speakers I have owned.

The only two-ways I've ever owned were/are bookshelf speakers used in a secondary system, and none had mid/bass drivers larger than 7 inches. My favorite is the Sonus Faber Sonetto II. I'll never have two-ways in my main system.

If not already mentioned in the previous 15 pages, the Infinity Qe deserves a place in this thread. I love those little gems.

The picture is from a rebuilt cabinet I made some years ago with real wood veneer. Original box is particle board with vinyl veneer.
