I hooked up the Ewaves to my JBL L60Ts after I pulled the tweeters, and even though they come off a bit "hot" they sound quite nice.

Damn.....:D
 
Well, looks like I'll be joining you fellas. I am going to ewave my New Large Advents...:yikes:

I can't beleive I just said that...Well, with the grills on, none of the purists will know the difference so I should still be able to avoid the mob lynching!..
 
Make a precise measurement of the available baffle width. You'll need very close to 12" to fit the standard E'Waveguide across there.

Earlier, we devised an approach that cut it into the plastic bead trim in OLA and fit. The 8" square version I'm working with in my Advent thread is also an option, though not an "Official E'Wave" variant as yet.... :yes:

Zilch talked me into doing a dedicated EconoWave Crossover layout on a 3 inch by 6 inch board. He also convinced me that inputs via binding posts was the way to go. In fact, he did a component layout to show me how great it would be. Well, here it is.

I ordered some PCB's from China PC, one of the advertisers on AK, since I would need five of them for my home theater changeover. I also ordered a few spare pairs to share with some of the EconoWavers, since China PC has a pretty hefty tooling charge. PM me for details.

The first picture is of both sides of the PCB. Parts layout silk screen overlay on the front, solder mask on the back. Hardly like an "etch it yourself."

The next picture shows the crossover assembled for passive use. Note the one small jumper required next to the iron core inductor.

The third picture is of it assembled for switch selected passive or bi-amped, along with the second set of binding posts for the LF input in Bi-Amp..

It has a reasonable amount of flexibility for a "dedicated" crossover board, wouldn't you say?

Now we need a tutorial from Zilch showing how to mount the binding post inputted boards.

I'm assuming that the hole spacing and component positioning is compatible with the typical Parts Express components that are used with teh various EWave xovr versions?

Since Parts Express parts numbers were used in the original parts lists for the EconoWave crossover, the PCB was layed out to fit the PE parts.

Linn Isobarik DMS, CA 1988. I'm plotting to replace 200uf of NP caps that are in series with the Kef B110 midranges with something else a little less obstructive than 20 year old electrolytics. Probably metalized poly in oil. It may make no difference at all and perhaps I should be spending my time on something else.

Yeah. Back during my flirtation with Lowthers, Altec 755s, LE8Ts, etc. this is the kind of thing I'd shake my head over.

3-way with 2 each of Kef B-139, B-110 and Hiquphon dome tweet.

200 hz 4th order LP to B-139s
200 hz 4th order HP to B-110s
2700 hz 2nd order lp to B-110s
2700 hz 2nd order hp to dome tweets

They're quite insensitive and current hungry but after listening to them for a 2 months + I find nothing to actively dislike, and I usually can.

I'll be PM'ing you for some of those boards... I can hard wire the whole thing on Masonite, but it wouldn't be as compact and pro looking as your version. nice work!
