I built the 95+ x-over but I did order the parts for the 95- also.

Well....I'm coming up with the following
22.5" tall x 18.5" wide x 13.5" deep
The tweeter hole is 3"
If I have the math correct that's 3.251953125 cubic feet

Based upon Richard's T/S parameters, assuming the baffle thickness is 3/4", remove the tweeter, and you are done, tuned to 40 Hz, Green.
BB6P suggests a lower tuning (Red), but you can see the higher one gives more usable bass (above -6 dB, cursor).
Lower tunings could achieve more extended bass with compensation, if you're willing to give up ~6 dB in sensitivity and also 4.5 dB in power handling capacity, bottom.
Black is what you've presently got, closed box. :thumbsdn:

What little of it is audible, perhaps. :tongue:With a slope like that, I bet that sealed bass is FAAAST.
With BSC, closed box could be made to work reasonably well, looks like, but there's no power handling capacity available in that alignment down there, alas....

I ran this Model 14 woofer in several different BassBox tunings, and it shows that "falloff" above 500Hz. It looks to me that 800 Hz would be about the upper limit of xover freq. Altec crossed them @1800 to 2000 Hz., and that would seem to me, to leave a BIG hole in the higher mids!
Does this plot remind you of any other woofer you've ran in BassBox?

Indeed - 'New' Large Utility cabs. I'm not a fan of the fried egg, so when I saw Bauhasler's thread a couple weeks back, I jumped on these...free right? One evening casual listening seals the deal...and the new surrounds aren't broken in yet.

I think the New Large Advent utility cabs would be the preferred version to go with for an Advent conversion - they moved the woofer up on this version, so you've got a nice minimal spacing between the horn and the woofer - looks good!

You can still try the plywood plate with a 3" duct sticking outside the cab to see if these calcs are correct.
A 3.5" total duct length (including the baffle thickness) will achieve the Red tuning, 30.5 Hz.
If that doesn't get you substantially more audible extended bass than with no duct, you may assume these parameters and calcs are correct.... :yes:

Remember way back when I asked this? I missed out on the Heaths but picked up a pair of complete JBL L55s a month back. The cabinets are actually 9/10 condition, but the woofers and tweeters had the dust caps pushed in, and the grill cloth is bad. Well, the LE14s are in the middle of refoaming (I will need new JBL dustcaps), and I just ordered the 220ti drivers and most of the crossover parts from PE, and the Pyle horns from MCM. I got crossover parts to make both the LE14A crossover and the under 95 dB crossover just in case I want to try these with something else (like stacked Small Advents!)
BTW, I do have L166's and AR3a's to compare with and when it's all said and done I hope to do just that. Expect results in many weeks (I'm a slow worker with this stuff...something to do with a day job and 3 kids under 7).

Ok, tweeters are out and the bass is noticable.
Here's another question. There is about 2" of insulation on all sides of the cab interior. Should that be kept there or removed?

Just picked up a pair of Techwood speakers for an Ewave project. I will post pic tomorrow. But, there is a sticker on the back that says Rent-a-Center. The top plate has stick-up veneer. They are 5.5 feet tall and have a 4" mid and 2" tweet up near the top in front and a 12" woof on the side. The cabs and built like tanks....which is the only reason I bought them. They also have solid grill frames. So maybe a Wave up high, 10" or 12" Advent woof below that, and a subwoofer out the side. Like I said, I will post pics tomorrow. Here are the pics for the CL add. I paid 60 bucks for the two. The black speakers on top are three way Kenwood car speakers in a carpeted box and he threw those in for nuttin' They are just over 12" wide, so what are my waveguide choices? Cheers.
