And after listening more, I think we have real keepers for the basement HT here.
OK - a little EQ needed to boost around 70 Hz to compensate for a room null is not a bad thing. The low end is there, these don't start rolling off sharply until under 30 Hz on the SPL. I might spend more time trying to tune them up, but I doubt it, will probably just listen and enjoy instead.
Played a lot of my music tonight, and can't find any shortcomings with the PT waveguide yet. Off axis response is great. No harshness on rock and roll. The imaging sitting directly in the sweet spot is maybe not quite as good as a small monitor gives me. But turn your head side to side slowly with these WGs and you can't tell which speaker the sound is coming in comparison. So is that what CD is all about? If so I like it....
Yes that is the constant directivity thing. Rock solid images, central images hold steady even when listening way off center axis.

Ok so how do the 99a's sound on a scale of 1-10. What were they before
and what are they now. I am not being nosey but I have mine stripped
out for rebuild. I have commited to e wave my hpm 100's and already
have the crossovers built and drivers in. I ordered my waveguide horns
last tuesday and still no box on the porch.I guess I will know soon
enough on the hpm's. I always thought the woofers sounded ok in
the 99a's but the other drivers and or crossovers had issues.

CS99A's before would get a 5 or 6 out of 10.
1. Nice finish, classic 70's styling.
2. Good workable bass
3. You can really turn them up if need be.
4. They're just fun for what they are.
5. HF and midrange doesn't integrate all that well. Feels like you're listening to disparate parts..
C99A's after get a 7 or 8 out of 10.
1. The bass is still there and they still look good
2. HF precision is there and it sure is amazing. It draws you in and keeps you listening.
3. Seamless integration with LF
4. Bass isn't as deep as the JBL L100 woofers used in my first EWG project
5. Bass isn't as deep or as accurate as the JBL LE14A woofers from the C36 EWG
You could do a lot worse than to do a temporary mod to your CS99A's. I might just keep listening to it as is. It just works.

a 10. That helps out. I take that back,my dad has Mcintosh
seperates and ads 980's I think.It would be hard to beat.

I'm asking this here because it's directly Ewave related, and this might be one of the longest spells without comments.
If I ported a 3.7cf-3.9cf cab with 2, 3" pipe what would the lenth be. I started to look up 6", and stopped thinking to myself.... that could'nt be right. Thanks guys,gals

The length depends upon what your desired tuning frequency is.. longer is lower.

Kegger, what became of the mystery centre driver (mid-woofer?) between EWG and woofer you posted a pic of a little while back?

If your looking to say tune to 32hz, your looking at 7.5" long on each 3" dia port.
If your looking to experiment first, say tune to 30hz, your looking at 8.5" long on
each, then cut them down from there afterword to see what you like?

else coming that would work though,
,the system was really responding well for what it's intended application was and that being able to run these low power SET
amps and let them shine as best they can, it was/is quite addictive.

I am using a LE14A, with any where between3.6 to 3.8, I,ll do calculations later do to supports, but that is close to volume. so I think I'd like to tune it to 30Hz, although wasn't it kegger who double ported, with the ability to plug one? I can't find any of the calcs that offer a two port theory. I'll post pics this weekend, these beast I scabbed are in need of help. Thanks all

This would be nice, with 2 or more ports you could design it to tune to several places using the Zilch plug.

Yer gonna hafta wait 'til I get a 2x4, a scrap of plywood, and some T-nuts together here....
Its the unit used to "tie the top to the bottom" that particularly interests me.
The corner pieces are a little more self explainatory. I think.
Is the deal you still use the wood for the brace, and just use the little braces to hold that in place, or is there one of these things that will actually tie the top and bottom together?Russellc
