Has anyone done a listening comparison between the mini horn from JBL and the one from PE? I was planning my American Monitor Ewaves yesterday and realized the the round WG I have will not fit from the woof to the top of the cab, and the rectangular one is too wide. So I will use the mini.

You have two JBLs to choose from: 8" square 90° x 50° dispersion, or 6" square 90° x 90°. The 8" is somewhat deeper, so you'll have to check your interior cabinet depth to see if it'll fit. I have worked out the HF compensation options for that one, which are a bit different than the standard EWG.
I like this, E'wave is again branching out, same lesson and technology used with the Selenium to impliment better drivers on the wave guide.:thmbsp: A natural progression in both the basic product as well as the "lesson" learned form e'wave.
E'Wave's always been about the technology, and this thread is unprecedented in participation, content, and reader interest documenting that.
We have served up an entry-level implementation here well within modest means and skills for anyone to build and enjoy, and it's only natural that some would also be interested in upgrade paths, which are many.
What astonishes me is that at least 40 pairs have been built from the basic design. Who knows how many other builders used aspects of Ewave to influence their own projects? That's an outstanding impact for a group project.
If the purchases of waveguides from JBL are any indication, the numbers are significant. We encourage everybody to post their project pics here so they can be "Official," as it were, but that doesn't always happen, of course.
Personally, I hope people are out there doing ewave conversions on Large Advents all over the place. Once you hear the difference, it's a no-brainer.

I don't think I would be able to use the B&C as it has a recommended crossover at 1.6khz. My LE14A crossover is at 900hz.

The E'Wave highpass is ~3.5 kHz, actually; the nominal acoustic crossover being 1.6 kHz. If you look at the recommended crossover frequency for the Seleniums, I believe you'll find that it's higher than the B&C, actually, 2 kHz.
DE-250 is used as a HF driver upgrade in Wayne's Pi Speakers, and in Geddes' kits, including his TOTL Summa, which use crossovers in the same range as E'Wave. I note he's also now offering an 8" "Mini" using DE-10....
