Generally, what I have done with these falls outside the mainstream of E'Wave proper, and is posted elsewhere on the site, but I try to at least mention them here. My most recent "small" E'Wave project is Boston Acoustics A60 with the JBL 6" square waveguide, Selenium D220Ti, and standard E'Wave crossover. I also swapped in JBL 116H woofers. Sum total: a slam dunk.

My KLH-17 upgrade used the Dayton waveguide and Classic 10" woofers, ported; several members have built those. The small 18-Sound ellipticals went into AR4x. I'm saying there's lots of fun smaller stuff to try incorporating the E'Wave design principles.... :thmbsp:

sounds like d220ti will work pretty well with any of the above mentioned wave guides.....i'll just try what i can order at the partsexpress. thanks zilch.
 
dont know much about compensation filters, but what do they do for the HF drivers and, why do you still have to attenuate with an L Pad , if you are using the comp filter?
 
Hello Zilch, I just received a pair of the eminence beta 12a-2, 12inch speakers. With a sensitivity of 98db, I want to use a fixed L Pad ( 2 resistors) what would you recommend for the resistor values ( I will also be using the Selenium D210Ti HF driver)

To get VHF response out of a compression driver on a constant directivity waveguide, you must boost the highs, which is accomplished by attenuating the mids, instead, as there is no true boost available in a passive filter. Study the first few posts in this thread, and you'll see what it's about.

Yes, you can build attenuation into the comp filter to balance the highs and lows in the system, but every driver combination then requires a different filter. In designing the E'Wave crossover(s), Jack used an L-pad instead, and covered the anticipated range of woofer sensitivities with two comp filter choices. You need the high-sensitivity >95 dB version.

If you want to use a fixed L-pad instead, the best way to determine the requisite resistor values is to install a variable one, adjust the balance, remove it, measure the resistances of the series and parallel legs, and choose the closest standard resistors to those values to hardwire in.

If you want to eleminate the L-pads altogether and do the attenuation in a custom HF comp filter for your driver combination, search the thread for Wayne's and my discussion of the range of component values versus attenuations. I measured them all and posted the results here....
 
A while back I sold a friend a pair of JBL Barons, C38 cabs with D130 and 075 drivers. He's heard Ewaves now and is lobbying for an upgrade. Assuming that a new baffle was cut for the D130 and the port was moved to the back, which of the appropriate WGs will fit on the baffle with the D130? I don't have access to the speakers to make measurements.

You may be able to get the 6" square waveguide in there.

In portrait alignment, WB and I have nicely fit LE14A and the standard E'Waveguide with dual ports in front.

They're just flushing the waveguides away from show 'n' tell.

anyone knows where I can buy the ph612 horn or Jbl similar horn, I thought PE would have it buy tomorrow but they push them back to one more week, i would like to order them now

Other ideas include taking a set of 2123H I have on hand and attaching that to Wayne's mid horn, as soon as he's selling the flat packs again.

I think Ill leave my 802C in the VOTTs. Im not sure of the difference between the C and 8G but I dont need to be tearing them apart, actually i do need to tear them apart to PAINT them. :thmbsp:

The JBL waveguide comes from JBL Pro Parts, linked in the Project Summary on Page 1 of this thread. They are identical except for the metal threaded insert on the Pyle part in lieu of plastic.

Very similar, the 802 8G has the tangerine phase plug of the 900 series. It was kind of a transition driver as it were, the 900 series phase plug, but still had alnico magnets rather than the ferrite of the 900 series. Not sure which diaphragm the 802 C has, or whether or not it uses loading caps, or just felts and no loading caps.
