Since you all are discussing twinning, what would be the possibilities using 2225H? I have a spare set here begging me to do something with them.
Well, maybe, but any spare 2225H's that cone my way morph into 2235H's pretty quick.
If you want to twin something to augment the bass, 2226H would be a likely candidate. For a while there, lots of people bought the big dual 15" subs in the Tent Sale, but I don't know if anybody tried "0.5-ing" them....

i also have a set that needed reconed and they are off being "morphed" to 2235H:thmbsp:, BUT I couldnt bring myself to send these in also since they function perfectly, I just couldnt justify it to my wallet:thumbsdn:.
Well, twin away, then; there's plenty of those cabs around, 4648 and 4638, as I recall.... :yes:

I though I would throw my hat in here. I'm trying to upload a picture of the parts as they came in from UPS. So right out of the boxes here they are....

Cheapo crossover for Econowaved Large Advents
I have a pile of Advents around here to fool with. I've had in the back of my mind to build crossovers hardwired with the original choke and 'found' parts. See the results of the first experiment below. Built on a 5" X 6" piece of scrap Masonite. The woofer choke is the original from the speaker. The resistors are Daytons and the rest of the parts are scrounged or from my repair stock. The two terminal strips will be held down by 2 of the 6 mounting screws when the board goes in the cabinet.
It was pretty easy to build but not as easy as using a PCB.
The next time I try this I'll use a bigger piece of Masonite and put the screw holes outside the parts area. This is a trifle crowded and will be fussy to install.
I'll be updating the Utility Large Advent build thread with more info but I though t I'd show it here since it was a slow news day.

Yes, but the standard E'Waveguide is too wide to fit in that cabinet, so we took a different approach to upgrading KLH 17 and 20.
The 8" x 8" JBL waveguide will fit in 20s, I believe we found; the crossover needs a little tweaking to work optimally with that combination, is all.... :yes:

Pyle PH-612, Throat Adapters, & B&C DE-250
AVS Forum member Augerpro is compiling a comprehensive data base of woofers, compression drivers, and waveguides:

Among those studied is the E'Wave alternate Pyle PH-612 with B&C DE-250, and the measurements reveal a deep notch in the response curve just above 10 kHz. I ordered a pair of the Pyle waveguides to verify his findings.
It is unclear at this point exactly what throat adapter he is using. When I ordered the P-Audio PC-20 from the same source as him, they sent me the less expensive Selenium ADM-25s instead. Correspondence with Augerpro indicates that they also sent him those and not what he had ordered and thought he had received, so we are both awaiting resolution of this issue from the vendor.
Knowing from prior experience in this thread that, in detail, performance can vary with different drivers, throat adapters, and waveguides, I proceeded with the measurements using the throat adapters on hand, and here are the results, including with P-Audio PC-35, our standard thread-on D220Ti, and the bolt-on D220ti OMF with ADM-25 throat adapter. Note that the curves are unsmoothed and shown in 2X the normal resolution, each vertical division being 5 dB:
And here are the results sorted by Pyle PH-612 vs. the standard E'Wave JBL PT waveguide:

I confirm Augerpro's finding: the B&C DE-250 does not behave well on the Pyle PH-612 waveguide, but used with the JBL PT, it is quite good with the Selenium throat adapter, as we earlier found. So the DE 250 is OK with the JBL wave guide? (with the exception of the 4K "needs work" area).
The waveguides look so similar, any speculation as to differences or causes, or is this to do with the adapter? Does the bolt on Selenium With the adm-25 adapter and JBL waveguide exibit this dip also, or is it specific to the DE250?
As to the 4K area hump, would lowering the LF crossover help this any, sort of like the LE14A 900 hz LF crossover did for that driver?

Those look like nice cabinets. If the woofer doesn't work out there are a number of economical alternatives that would work. The PE Dayton Classic 12" has been used by several people.
Measure the distance from the bottom of the midhorn cutout to the top of the tweeter horn cutout. The Ewaveguide needs a hole 5" X 10.5".
