This is no good without knowing the driver parameters.

Put in KappaLite 3012LF and we can compare apples and apples....

No, but the JBL 2404H was once a popular upgrade, so I suspect the PT-D will work as well for way less $$$....

Well, in my case, where you're trying to fill up a theater room with up to 400 people in it... 15" are pretty much de rigueur, for any sort of dynamic response, at least on the front three channels. Even with accompanying 15" subs. In fact, I may add a third sub to go with the existing two... E-wave and sub in all three of the front positions. I'm looking to compete with REAL movie theaters, here... :D

Back in the game

I'm uploading a few shots of my new old Fisher ST-440s. I have 20 bucks in the speakers and they are outfitted with the economy ewave. I assumed they aren't high efficiency speakers and used the lower efficiency crossover. I just can't get over the sound. I'm going back over my collection and I am hearing it all for the first time. Thank you ONE and all. I can only imagine what the upgraded versions sound like. I hope to have the opportunity to put one together in time. What you guys are doing is very cool.

That is a perfect example of the eWave concept. Recycle an old box and make it kick butt.

Did you incorporate the L-pad knob on the front?

odd timing.
I just set a 2414H in that horn, on a Klipschorn last night,
after testing on Wt2, to get a rough idea what it sounded like...
could work as a tweeter in that system, but so could 100 other things.

I appreciate the comments regarding my Fisher ST-440 ewaves. I don't know that I ever had a rebuild or redesign project of any sort that went together as easily as these. Beginner's luck I guess, although Zilch is right when he says they are made for ewaving. I was able to use the factory knob and face plate with the new L-pads and wired the input thru the breaker. Both the mid and tweeter fit inside the wave guide flange, so it was just cut and screw.
For anyone reading this thread and wondering whether to attempt a build, I say go for it. I get lost almost immediately when the discussion gets technical, which is usually always. But if one takes some time to understand the concept of the ewave project, Zilch's boards and great directions make it quite simple. And the results are amazing.

That the are! A lot lighter than I would have thought but i guess that is the neo.

Still waiting for CD backorder at parts express and the waveguides from QSC...too bad we can't get the waveguides for the cinema speakers...might be a bit more dramatic (plus would require some more design magic, so i won't go there).

What are you going to use for the boxes? The PE cabs like Zilch used, or something else?

I am going to build a 2cu ft box for the waveguide to sit on top of with 2x4"ports that are 12" long.

I was going for something like this...
