Zilch's AK Design Collaborative - Econowave Speaker

That's not a driver, its a lunar module. Wow.
Be sure to post lots of pics on your K2 project...

On another note, did you guys see the deepsurplus M&K cabinets?

Interesting...

I looked for this one pictured on the deep surplus site but could not find. Do you have a link?

Never mind, found it.

I just got back from there, with a pair of these (as well as a quad of single-driver sub boxes and about 8 micro/surround boxes, and grilles, and stuffs!).

Not sure what the heck I'm gonna do with all this stuff, but the price was right!

It would be interesting to see how his woofers look in measurement. They're not expensive, I don't know about their performance. Maybe someone at the Klipsch site measured them. Saw T/S parameters posted on that forum for one of his his 15" woofers. I know he had stuff manufactured by Eminence in the past.

Pair of CW1228 woofers $170.00

I almost sent you a PM asking if you'd pick me up a couple, but decided the shipping wouldn't make it worthwhile.

Sadly, that's the case, and shipping speakers is always a significant effort, unless one has custom shipping containers (these were palletized, didn't have shipping boxes).

Show us pics! :D

And tell me something: were their "lot" prices on the website for real? Like 50 bucks for 8 cabinets on a pallet? Unreal.

The "lot prices" were for when they were selling them.

These, are FREE. 2 days left EWavers! After friday they get dumpsterized.

No pics yet, maybe later.

Creative sound Trio 12 is max flat in that box and has a heck of a motor on it. Needs the baffle hole enlarged though. Since I have so many of these cabs, I plan to build a router jig so as to be able to use them with typical 12"s.

I just ordered a trio of QSC 152 Waveguides, front left and right, and center channels. These will be used in my Jamboree folded horns.

I already have the GPA 902's, so will try. If they are deficient then will replace with BMS drivers. What would be an 'ideal' crossover frequency for the Mid range tractrix horn to the QSC Waveguide. The bass part of the Jamboree folded horn has two 15 inch Drivers and a SPL of 107 db/1 watt 1 meter and responds smoothly to 940 cyles. The crossover for the Bass to mid horn is an ALK steep slope design at 600 cycles. The JBL 2445J is padded down 7 db via an autotransofrmer to match the bass unit. The GPA 902 is 106 db efficent, so no padding down is necessary. I am thinking that a 12 db cossover design would be adequate for the mid to hf driver, but am unsure of a crossover frequency.

Any help or suggestions from the forum would be appreciated. I am in the process of learning about waveguides, which is probably very obvious!

Thanks, Larry

Do you have a link to the Jamboree folded horns? I am trying to figure out what bass horn to use.

Also, does anyone have the flare maths for the CD horns? I'd like to whip a pair out on the CNC out of a nice wood. Cheers.

Zilch,

Unforunately, I have no information as to when the Tractrix begins to beam and or what its dispersion is at that frequency. It is a 90 degree Horizontal x 60 degree Vertical horn with a cutoff of approx 280 cycles and an effective range of 400 to 17000 cycles. It is made by Soniphase, but there is no information on beaming/dispersion. Is this an item that my RTA setup could measure?

Larry

Have you heard the 1/2 J2??? It is about the size I am looking for and I wouldn't mind hearing it in the front loaded configuration.
