Zilch's AK Design Collaborative - Econowave Speaker

has anyone done the ewave with bozak woofers? or in bozak cabs? i have a 301 "tempo" that i wanna try the ewave next with. as you all know, the woofer cone is quite heavy and i'm not sure how it'll all work with the horn. i believe these are quite inefficient.

I have B305s in the basement I played around with for a few minutes.

I've heard conflicting stories on how far up the woofer will play. I suspect they will work well and would start with the basic crossover. You won't need the high efficiency ones. I think they are about 92db @ 1 watt.

I might go plug one woofer in and measure it soon for kicks. I'm thinking of using the 16ohm selenium drivers in horns to replace the tweeters and keeping the aluminum midrange driver in a 3 way.

I know that the apparent lack of bass is due to the measuring method, but how does the DeltaLite II measure up in that respect? Most Eminence woofers are spec'ed pretty lacking in bass response. I have always been curious about them, but not enough to try a pair.

They are high-efficiency midwoofers that require sub(s); the designs are targeted for home theater installations which typically include them. eWave Deluxe could possibly get by without them with boundary reinforcement. The 15" variants in larger cabs probably, as well; towers with dual 12s in 2.5 mode would be fun to try. :)

2431 would be 1.5", so it's a negatory on that combo.... ;)

Long time ago i built a 5 cubic feet box tuned to 30 hz for a 2235h driver. I tried to mate it with a JBL 2370a horn but was never happy with that.

Now when i found this thread i got new hope for this box. Could i use the Deluxe version together with my box or are there any other suggestions for crossover schematics to use with my box?

I've got 2235 in 5 cu ft tuned to around 30-32 hz. Deluxe 5 element crossover, QSC wave guide and DE250. It will kick Major ass.

That's a mightily impressive port!

Yes. As soon as I am done with the F-5 and the B-1 I'm finishing my measurement system and working PCD to adjust Pete's killer crossover to
the 2235H. I am using the zobel from the 4430 monitor. Before this crossover, I used the HP portion of the <95 db crossover, and the LP from JBL 4430. ( 12 uF cap and 2.7 mH coil, as per the "4430 Help" thread over in LH forums. It has the 4430 clone crossover there.

I have yet to try the 4430 LP with pete's HP, but will eventually. This latest crossover designed for the 3012 LF is working surprisingly well with this unintended woofer.
