As an aside, I just posted a thread on how I recessed the LE-10A's that may be relevant to anyone trying to figure out how to flush mount. Waveguides, speakers, it's pretty much the same technique.

If I get really good at it I may attempt recessing the QSC on my floorstanders, but I'm afraid that the process may leave scars, so anyone have an orphan QSC they'd be willing to sacrifice?

A close look will reveal that I used 3 different routers... And they are still setup...
 
Just to put a bug in whoever's ear...

Two of the Silver Flute 8" woofers, in a narrow tower of about 2 cubic feet total, tuned to about maybe 35 Hz, run as a 2.5 way (one woofer crossed over at about 80 Hz, the other going all the way up to 1.5KHz), could be pretty interesting... looks like it might have effective bass response down to 34Hz or so, run that way?

Regarding the ZilchLab project, Delite 10's which use the Eminence Deltalite II 2510 Neo 10" Driver, B&C DE250 on 18-Sound XT1086 waveguide, could I use the econowave standard Dayton H6512 6-1/2" x 12" Waveguide with good results? :scratch2:
 
DE250 is bolt-on, whereas the standard eWaveguide from the various sources is thread-on. If you want to move up from the Seleniums, try the Celestion CDX1-1731 Duke is using in his Prisms.... :yes:

Found some on Pro Audio Warehouse website. If Duke is using them, I'm sure they sound very good.

Any thoughts on the Eminence PSD:2002S-8 that Wayne uses? :scratch2:

I've not heard the Selenium, but some feel it's a bit edgy and doesn't sound as full and rich as the B&C. Opinions welcome, thanks!

I've built a few Ewaves with the Selenium 220ti and liked them all, but finally crapped up the money for the B&C's a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be happier. I'm using the DE250, QSC waveguide, and the Deluxe crossover, and they sound super smooth. IMHO, the extra $150 was money well spent.
 
There are issues. Brandon and I have both shown that the Pyle version of the EconoWaveguide is particularly bad using the Selenium throat adapter on DE250....

It is pretty darn amazing the differance in sound you will get when you take that next step up! I know I was taken aback with the Radian 475PB drover, having made the jump from the Selenium 210TI. "Smooth" is the word, as would be "effortless", "extended", as wellas a few others choice descriptions.

i honestly take nothing from the Selenium drivers however- at their price point they are "giant kollers" in their own right too. If evonomy reins the day, then the Selenium reins the decision. IF however you can audibly A/B your selection of the Seleniums and the B&C drivers, you then maybe forced to glue your piggy bank back together I am afraid!

Compare the specs.

I'd trust DE250 down lower than 1731, probably, from the manufacturers' minimum recommended crossover frequencies.

It'd be interesting to know how low Duke crosses it, but I'd say it'd also be impolite to inquire further into his proprietary product design; he's a friend of EconoWave, and I'd prefer to keep that so. :yes:

Edit: Here's an impedance measurement on the original JBL eWaveguide and the Dayton clone.

Note: The 1731 "snoot" is a bit too short to bottom completely in the metal throat insert of both the Pyle and Dayton variants; an appropriate-dimensioned O-ring or gasket should be installed there. The smoother peak at ~2 kHz is the JBL:

omg...

I just finished the high-power E-waves... which I'm calling the "Big Black"s (to distinguish them from the "Big Reds" and "Little Reds"). Dual 15"s... top woofer is a custom-reconed JBL M1158A, bottom woofer is a custom-reconed B52 15". Dayton 6512 horn flare (same as PH612), and Selenium D2500Ti-ND. It's wired as a 2.5 way (bottom woofer bass only).

Well, I have to say... the Selenium D2500 lives up to the hype. The little bit of "tizziness" or "metallic texture" on the top of the D220Ti (15K-up region)? It's not there at all on the D2500. Neither is the tiny bit of "raspiness" on the bottom end (around 1.5KHz). Not a bit of histrionics, of any kind. Just SMOOOOOOTH. And detailed. This is, in fact, the best imaging and instrument "sonic texture" I've heard from ANY of the E-wave systems I've built myself, or heard elsewhere, so far.

I'm building up a pair of Z19 crossovers for a client to use with the DE250s and Altec 416s... I hopefully will get to hear this system after completion (he lives a ways away from here), so I can compare the treble quality of the DE250 and the D2500Ti. My gut instinct says the D2500 may well match or better it, from what I've heard of both of them to this point...

Nice thing, is that the extra sensitivity of the D2500, makes even higher-efficiency systems plausible. Even with a 99dB sensitivity woofer-section in the system I just finished (using the high-efficiency version of the crossover), the L-pad is still less than 2/3s of the way up. This combo should support 101dB woofers, easily... maybe even 102dB...

Agreed. even Geddes loves them!:D Seriously, its the best Ewave driver I've tried, next on the chopping block will be the Beyma compression driver. It is allegedly the "Bees Knees" in compression drivers in the 1 inch catagory.

I'll be watching that comparison, going to PE now to see how they compare in price. Now that Harmon has snagged Selenium, I wonder if they will remain available for DIY?

I got this WG today and am quite unimpressed with the build quality. Especially around the throat where it's bit rough. There is also evidence that manual smoothing was done.

I don't have the PE nor JBL WG yet to compare.
