Quite some C to C distance there!
We've been E-waving for going on three years, now, and given it's popularity as a design concept, and its collaborative open format with full presentation of technical details, we can fully expect examples of similar approaches, both old and new, to rise into more prominent view. Clearly, there is no dearth of design expertise on the E-Wave team, and as we continue in-depth exploration of the core concepts ourselves, this work is available to everyone, including commercial manufacturers.
There's no denying that some others working with these concepts have the requisite chops (and better, even, perhaps,) as well, and my own attitude is already stated and clear with respect to this issue -- DIY is not everybody's most favored approach, and there is plenty of room for exploration by others, even those with commercial exploitation as a primary motivation, and I believe everyone's efforts deserve respect for whatever result those might yield, and all implementations are subject to similar scrutiny with respect to their merits.
Nobody "owns" EconoWave -- we have offered it free to all, and continue to explore and support it with unprecedented passion here and elsewhere. It's all good, and all welcome -- that's what we do, as has been so since the very outset of this work. :thmbsp:
I thought that too, but then started wondering if it really matters. If the sitting position is 15 feet away, can you really hear the effects of the greater distance between woof and horn?
It depends upon the height of the forward lobe and the locus of the forward axis relative to the listening height.
Answer: yes, it matters.... :yes:
