The woofer is JBL 127H.... :)

Also - I assume for the newbies a how-to-build-the-econo-waveguide speaker crossover will be provided? I have a crappy soldering iron, and some duct tape around here somewhere, I assume that is all that is required?

I'm still running on wire nuts here. :p:

Jackgiff gonna show us how to etch DIY PC boards. The layout and artwork are done.... :thmbsp:

Use the "Search this Thread" tool button right under the "Page XX of YY" box in the upper right hand corner and look for KLH.
That should do the trick

I have a pair of KLH six with I think one bad woofer and maybe a tweeter too, I don't recall.

Anyhow, they sure are nice cabs...

I gather this modification will be superior to the that of the original KLH six?

Total cost of materials/drivers etc been calculated?

Also a concern, I haven't heard a horn yet that doesn't make my ears bleed...or at best make me still prefer soft domes.

just placed an order for all the parts needed.
when i called the JBL pro, the person mentioned something about a lot of people ordering those waveguide for internet speaker project.....i just chuckled. :D

hopefully i'll get all my part by next weekend.
 
so i guess it's not just the AK'ers who are building this.......

i have a better idea. i heard that you can somewhat easily mold your own plastics. how 'bout someone come up with home made version? we'll call it zilchorn, and sell it to benefit the AK.:thmbsp:

In compiling the Official E'Waver List, I encountered many members who were acquiring or had acquired the components, but had not yet posted their completed projects. There's plenty more E'Wave adventures to come here.

Thanks, Russell. It will be at least three weeks before I can get on that project. And it will be Jackgiff's way of making pc boards, and not the recommended way. I do it on the cheap, and so sometimes ruin a board if using the presensitized "positive" boards such as sold by Part Express. I have ordered the chemicals for the "negative" system, which will allow you to try them again and again right up to the etching step. After starting the etching, you are pretty well committed.

Cost for a pair of boards are roughly equal, but if you plan to make several pairs, the cost should be less with the "negative" system. The terms "positive" and "negative" refer to the photo artworks used to expose the sensitized board.

I got a little lucky, not everything I did was planned, just kinda hey that might work. :)
 
Yesterday I read most of the thread. Some of it I skimmed a bit as it related to other people's projects that didn't parallel mine, so I didn't pay as close attention. That confession made*, is it possible to purchase these from somewhere in the US that will post to Australia? I've tried the local distributor without any success, which is a pity as they used to be really good to deal with.

I'd also be happy to piggyback someone else's order if that works too.

BTW, the fibreglass WG's someone else linked earlier in the thread were mine. Now returned.

* I will re-read it in detail next weekend when I have some time free.
