This was playing aggressor on a flight last month….a Hawker Hunter.
Same engine and prop (different cowling) that the old C-130's used... pretty reliable as long as the prop blades stay in place, ugly when one chucks a blade !

My friend Ron, who owns a speaker repair shop in Smyrna GA, did his time in the Navy in the 70s, working on engines on P2s and P3s. His frequent comment is that he's one of the only Navy guys that was never stationed on a ship. P2s and P3s were too big to land on anything afloat, at least during the Vietnam War.

Yes, they both used variations of the Allison T56 turboprop engine, now Rolls-Royce.
Wow, I almost forgot that I used to inspect subassemblies of the T56 engines prior to overhaul at Aviall.

Yeah...one of my rides back in the day.
Glad to meet a fellow forest fire fighter here. I never had occasion to jump out of a helicopter, but I flew in several as a spotter or guiding the ground attack. I rode in everything from a Korean War vintage Bell 47 (Remember M.A.S.H.) to a Bell Jet Ranger. That Bell 47 is still in service!
