Not sure what you have in the barn - some very contented cows possibly.

Nope .. just more stuff.

I thought everybody knew that cows were tone deaf. Horses on the other hand have definite preferences in music.:D

The speakers are set up behind 2 windows that swing up and open so that I have tunes in the back yard and everything is protected from the weather if need be.

This system runs most of the time that we are home and outside.

Hey, I'm a city slicker. If I was to go to a farm, I'd probably try to milk a horse and saddle a cow.

My current rig:

Scott 440A integrated and 530T tuner - $35
Sony 5-disc CDP - free
Akai CS-MO1A cassette deck - free
Dual 1015 TT- free
Polk Monitor 10A - $30

Plus a lot of other gear I've been through. Getting a deal is the fun part! my current setup isn;t the be-all and end-all, but I like it; I'm actively looking for a "new" turntable when I can get the right deal, but for now I'm content.

Sansui SP-2000 speakers - free
Harman Kardon PM-640 integrated - free
Harman Kardon CD-401 cassette deck - free

Hi all,

Ah ha, I just thought of one (one hundred dollar) system I put together.
A pair of (circa 1962) WHARFEDALE W-90's mated with a FISHER 400 Tube Receiver. Total cost, one hundred dollars. The W-90's sounds very good with the FISHER 400.

Regards,
SixCats!

Rectilinear IIIs - free
Sony receiver - free
Sansui CDP - free
Kenwood TT - free
bag full of CDs - free
box full of LPs - free
had all the cables - free

Cost - $0
Being able to gloat on AK - priceless

:D

Rectilinear III's free? wish I lived somewhere where there was ANY stereo equipment. i got Pioneer CS-77A's free.

got a pair of Bose 901's (S-1) for $10 at a yard sale last year. They were closing up and the 901's had served their purpose as a table all day

I'm typing this on my $2 HP ZE5700 (2.8 mhz) laptop, but thats for a different thread :D

I have to chime in!!

Well, here goes with my $100.00 set up:

Fisher 400 Tube Receiver: $15.00
Technics SL-QD33: $ 4.00
Magnavox CDB610 $ 2.50
Polk Monitor 7b $75.00

So, for less than $100.00 I have a few great pieces, and some not so great.

The greats would be the Fisher, Magnavox and Polk pieces.

Not so great would be the Technics TT. Very good, just not great.

Cheers:thmbsp:

i got a fisher sa1000 tube amp and matching 400 series tube preamp for free via craigslist ad and my altec horn speakers for free from a public school that tossed them thinking they were blown. the electronic crossovers in the amp room turned out to be what was bad.

i did grab a technics sl1300 at a thrift for $40 and still use it. also have a working technics cd1 i think it is that works from a thrift for $8 and a kenwood bpc tuner for $5.

did i win the cheapskate award?
