1960's RCA Victor Console

^ I'm going to have to look at mine now and do some deciphering based on that knowledge if I don't find the brochure/catalog.

Looking forward for your pics @50nstillhifi

Ok.. here are some to share. And some general guidance:

  • Working on this as a component upgrade or rebuild will be for the "enthusiast" :bigok:.
  • The resulting operation will probably NOT be impressive, as a complete upgrade or replacement of internal parts would be needed :deal:.
  • The "beauty" of these well-constructed consoles will be satisfying and overlook any acoustic challenges you will need hurdle to get it to a 21st Century standard.
  • I settled for a compromise given my Magnavox "AstroSonic"View attachment 1943122 View attachment 1943123 View attachment 1943124 unit will be used at the minimum.

transformer has 606-3-19
606 is Woodward-Shumaker
week 19, 1963

@gadget73

Might you know what the first string of #'s indicates?

As to the 2nd string the numerals (not pictured) on my 1960 RS-177 are

549921, the 549 indicates Midwest Coil & Transformer so I'm guessing 21st week of 1959

^ I could've swore that I sent an RCA catalog to be uploaded to the database, I'll check and I think I still have the catalog floating around somewhere. If I find it I'll see what I can share.

I found the sales catalog for the year 1960, I'll upload pics tomorrow

Hi....i have the exact same model and I'm looking for more information on it. I'm looking for a way to get an exact year ans model

Here are some pic with numbers!
Interesting to see what these numbers will tell about mine!
The EIA codes will tell you who made those particular parts that RCA used and when they were made.

The model number is usually stamped in ink on the chassis of the amp and/or tuner. I see markings there but they're too small to read. The RCA model numbers start with RS.
