The late 80s power amps have always been a problem from a model identification standpoint. The B-2301 was apparently in production a very long time and made the transition from the classic Sansui Logo to the modern Logo. That model was added to the database prior to 2009. Here's a link to the Audio Database indicating it was released in 1982. Your photo clearly shows the new Logo and the serial number indicates it was built in April '88. So there must have been a number of production runs over that time.

Here's an image of a B-2301L from HiFiDo. It shows a different serial number range and a T-tag. I don't know what makes the L variant different but it is a valid model. Both variations were built on multiple assembly lines over their production run.

The bottom line is your late production B-2301 is not necessarily an outlier but new chapter in this amps history. Thanks for taking the time to compare it to the PDF.

On a different note, I'm going to skip the CCD-MCS7. It's just not collectable.

About the B2301: My question was more - Is there a difference between "B-2301L" and "B2301L Vintage" in the PDF. Where do these two models differ or is this the same model?
 
Sorry, I got distracted and didn't answer that question. Looking at the two "vintage" variants in the database and searching on line for an example, I don't think there is an B-2301L Vintage model. The serial numbers for the two in the database fit nicely into the production run of the 60 B-2301L on file. I'm going to remove "vintage" from the two examples and remove the "vintage" variant from the Master Model Table.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Looking on line, there are a number of auction listing calling it a B-2301L vintage but I couldn't find any that actually listed vintage on the ID plate. The two in the database were both added during the "expansion period" when I was processing thousands of serial numbers and adding a lot of new models. My concentration tends to turn to jelly after a few hours of processing serial numbers. I eventually learned to only enter a new model name when I could find photos on line that clearly defined that model.

@peterott, Very cool and rare speakers. New for the database, circa 1984. Do they have an ID plate? If so, I'd like to see a photo if it's available.

A little clarification on the use of commas for the database. The data is stored in Excel like tables. During the upload process, the comma tells Access to skip to the next field on the same line of data. The fields are: Model,Serial Number,Reporter,Notes,T-tag. The Model,Serial Number,Reporter are well understood. The next two, Notes,T-tag are a little tricky. If you have a note like 230v model or JDM, one comma gets that note in the right field. Two commas puts the note in the T-tag field. The only time two commas are appropriate is when there is a T-tag but no note. The second comma tells Access to leave the notes field blank and to put the data following the two commas in the T-tag field.

It's not a big deal. These little mistakes occur all the time. As a regular part of the process I import the data into an excel spreadsheet which gives me a very graphic view of the data formatting and it's easy to fix in excel. I bring your attention to it because I can see that you try hard to get everything in the right sequence and you are just one comma away.
 
Aye, Pete. I am going to try my best with these commas. I see my mistake...I confused notes and t-tag entry on position 4 and 5. Have noted it in my serials-textfile so that I don't forget it :D

Thanks, I wanted to see the model name on the ID plate for the database. Speaker System is much simpler than Dual Passive Radiator 3-way Speaker System.
