2017 Sansui Serial Number Database

I have sold this model:
G4700,820023055,cq.ab0nf
It now lives in Pueblo, CO with a guy who was really happy to get it.

And replaced it with this one:
G5700,859060272,cq.ab0nf

That 5700 is an absolutely amazing receiver with plenty of power. It was a good choice to move from the 4700 to the 5700.

Hi russ25, welcome to AudioKarma Exclusively Sansui. Thanks for making your first post a serial number.

Your 441 was built on production line 01 in September 1974. It was the 732 unit off that line that month. Line 01 was also building 210s, AU-33s and TU-505s that month.

There are lots of folks here that can help get it up to snuff.

I don't think this is likely to be a duplicate. We have 25 TU-217s built in '79 on file but none built in May. Line 84 produced them in January and February. cnyel's is an outlier. There were 19 TU-217s built on line 84 in May of '78 including #0110. I don't want to cast any shade on @cnyel1967, because I've certainly made this kind of mistake, but I think it's much more likely that the 9 was actually an 8.

@LBPete I believe and new category for the database.....it's the timber case for an AU-999 [s/n to come] did similar models of the era also have serial numbered cases?

Very cool! We knew that Sansui offered these accessory wood cases but I've never seen them identified with a model name sticker and serial number. I'll happily add the C-17 model to the database. Now I want to take the wood cover off my AU-999 to see if it has a serial number.

Some of the 5000 series receivers have the unit's serial number on the back edge of the wood cover but that had to have the cover factory installed. So those weren't an accessory.

Your 771 was built on line 23 in August '76. It was the 75th unit off that line that month. Line 23 was also building the QSD-1, QRX-7001, AU-20000 and AU-11000 that month.

I'll process that text file later. Lots of good information. I'll add a note to the TU-S33L model to indicate the alternate country of origin. We have 10 of them in the database and they are built on 5 different production lines.

The D-X211HX-R is completely wrong in the database. Both the model name and decade are off. I'll update both.

Looking at the TA-1000L. It's the top half of "stack" system. The ID label does say receiver so I'll make the change.

The AU-7500 and 350A are true duplicates. Line 01 was producing both models in December '72.

A 907XR was for sale for 400€ by a person who clearly didn't know what she was selling. Ad was gone within minutes - and no pic from the serial number. Same for the 9090DB with a requested price of 250€. Before driving it to the local "recycling centre" so throwing it away in the electric trash (=work to do) they tried to get rid of the amps on kleinanzeigen for whatever price as "only via pick-up, we won't send via postal service"...

I think it's going to work again! Offsets and biases are good (with a 150 watt reptile lamp for a dim bulb test). The offset-reading multimeter was attached to each channel's output transistors' bussbar (schematic circles 13 and 14) as they were accessible from the topside. Infrared temp readings EVERYWHERE never got above 90 degrees F. Is it safe yet to plug it into the wall? More stories about all this work are yet to come ...

It's good that they tried selling them before trashing them. They were probably surprised by how quickly they sold. Hopefully they went to someone that can repair them and put them back in service. The 9090DB probably just needs a cleaning and two resistors on the driver board. Either of those would be an epic score.

@PE9ZZ, I almost forgot about the leboncoin text file you posted. I just opened it. That's a lot of serial numbers! Also, that photo you posted of the ID plate for the AVP-701XR is extremely helpful. By far the most time consuming part of processing the serial numbers is chasing down confirmation of unknown models. Having a reference like that really helps. Thanks!
