501's and Sonus Faber Cremona speakers?

Even though I don't have MC501s (yet), I am on my second pair of Sonus Faber (started with Cremona Auditors, then found a beautiful pair of Guarneri Homage on Audiogon a few minutes from my house and grabbed them.)
While the Cremonas sounded very good, the Guarneri Homage sounded even better. I would say that the Cremonas are more forgiving, but with top quality smooth amp like the 501 (assuming similar quality source components and pre) the revealing nature of the Guarneri should not be an issue, but an asset.
My personal recommendation might not be what you are looking for (or very popular), but while the Cremonas are wonderful speakers, the 501s and the rest of your component might be more worthy of the Guarneri. With the following caveat:
If you listen mostly to rock and pop, the very revealing nature of the Guarneris might work against you (given how crappy some rock/pop recordings are). In that case, the more forgiving nature of the Cremonas might be an asset.
I suspect that PHC1 - who has vast experience in the McIntosh + SF matching will soon chime in with his opinion. I'd listen to him

Already have but we have also PM'd back and forth a few times so I know what his room dimensions are and his expectations. Their ONE "slight criticism", has held up my whole purchase. Because it also coincided, with PHC recommendation of the Elipsa.
So one dead monkey does stop the show, at my house!
(I have a Turbo Porsche in my garage, that I have not driven in a year. Maybe I will sell it and reward my efforts, with the Elipsa's)

I would certainly recommend the elipsa, having wrestled with the trade-offs between the two. Listening to Cremona and then listening to elipsa will solve your dilemma. One of the reasons I went with elipsa had to do with room placement. Cremonas need to stand well out from the walls and for best performance their placement in the room is critical. elipsa is less intrusive in the living, walking around space, and less fussy about placement. To be sure, their sound is optimized through careful experimentation, but their sweet spot is wider and deeper.

To those doing a search on this topic here is my feedback as an actual owner for a few days. They are a warm speaker, with silky smooth midrange and high's, the base drivers have a nice clean tight sound to them. They will not over extend themselves in the bass . The cremona floor standing speakers sound great with Rock, jazz, classical, pop, guitars. Unlike the auditor you have 4 woofers ie 2 in each speaker which puts out some nice bass. Sounds great with the MC252
