ADS L-620 Speakers

I found some ADS L-620 speakers at a thrift store for $60. I was wondering if they will provide better from my pioneer sx-6 than what I currently use, klipsch kl2s. Many thanks.

You might want to try them since folks like ADS speakers. You can sell them for what they cost or more if in good shape and it will give you a chance to hear a different, well regarded speaker.

That is a very nice price for some also nice sounding speakers. Had a chance to get a pair a few years back & have regretted it.

I've never heard the 620's or the klipsch but, I own L710's & L690's and I'll never part with them.

For $60; I'd grab them and give a listen!

IMNSHO yes, far better... but loudspeakers are largely a matter of taste, and de gustibus non est disputandum.

I'm an ADS fan and there are many of us. If they're in good shape, $60 is a very good price. Grab 'em, listen to them, and celebrate your good fortune if you like them or make a few bucks if you sell them.

I have a set of L620's. I paid $60 for them 4 years ago.They are very well built.
Well worth the money! They are little shy on midrange because they are a 2-way speaker.

I have my ADS L710's stacked on the L620's and played together they sound fantastic! The L620's are a good start in the quality ADS line of speakers.

Get them! If you don't like them you can easily get your money back, and then some, by reselling them.

I thought the L620s sounded better that quite a few other medium sized ADS speakers. A bit shy on the bass though and placement seemed more critical than others.

Had a pair of 620's. Recapped them and put them on some of those short wood stands that have a slight tilt - they were very, very nice. Receiver was a Yamaha CR-2040. Some of the better 2-ways for the money...

I don't know the Klipsch. The L620 is what I think of as an oversized 2-way (for this type of speaker). Boston Acoustics A100 is a good comparison.

I'd rather have L520, but for $60 there's no way I'd pass up a decent pair of L620. If you tend to listen LOUD or need extended bass then L620 is better.

$60 is less than half of what they normally go for.
I have them and they are very good.

The black version may be a bit later year which isn't a bad thing. They should have better binding posts on them if they are later ones from what i remember. I had a set for a while in the walnut veneer with metal grills. They were a good sounding 2 way.

I paid twice that for a pristine pair and I think I got a bargain. Excellent all-around speakers, well balanced, enjoyable to listen to. Grab them!

No it does not. Maybe painted?

Do they have cloth grills or metal perforated grills? Personally I like the newer metal grill versions better and they tend to have a little better veneer on them.

I really like the 420/520/620 speakers and they sound better than you think they should in the right size room (small to medium). The 620 has a little more "box" sound to them. Of the three, I think the 420 is the sleeper because they are smaller but still sound very full.

I would consider these bookshelf type speakers which is another reason I like the 420 because it actually fits on a bookshelf.

These all sound the best right up against the wall (2" or so) toed in just a little.
