ADS models, an impromptu rollcall

Steve17522, I would love to get that info from you on the c2000 and the mods! I would like to use my c2000 initially with my L1290's while I refinish my L1230's. Also wonder what crossover switch position to use. Thanks Glen
 
I recieved a pair of ADS L-910 passive crossovers. Does anyone have info about them the cards tehy use or what connections do what?

Just picked these up last week (SAT6)

A friend here in Seoul, Korea brought these over to try and ended up buying them for $200. They sound sweet and have replaced my B&W CM1s as mains in a small room.

S600's

Owned many many speakers but these are definetly my favorite. Driven with an Onkyo Grand Integra M508 the highs are sweet. What is the next logical upgrade? Aerial 5 or 5B's?

Thought they looked a bit small, I have S700's and they sound terrific. That's supposed to be one of the best tweeters ADS ever used. A move up to Aeriel's would be nice.

Yes, it's hard to believe how good these little guys sound, so I guess good things do come in small boxes. Does your S700 use the same tweeter? They appear different, and I wonder how much better the S700 sounds with the bigger woofers and biamp/biwire capability. I spoke to a buddy, who introduced me to A/D/S, and he told me that moving to the Ariels would not necessary mean an upgrade, but just a different type of sound being that it has metal tweets vs the A/D/S's silk dome.
 
xxhanhxx, those look similar in size but have different tweeters than the SAT6 image I posted. The SAT6 also has a unique beveled edge around the entire front of the speaker which you can't see in the pic. But I'll post more images when I get a chance. By the way, these do sound wonderful with sweet mids and highs.

Not sure if they have the same tweeter or not. I've never heard S600's so I can't compare them other than saying my S700's sound excellent.

The S and Sat series are very similar in looks and probably in sound as well.
 
I was actually looking for a set of SAT6's but stumbled onto the S600's. I wonder if the extension of the front baffle of the SAT6's improves it's sonics, because they appear to have lower bass extension than the S600s. The SAT6's also have biwire/biamp connectivity. Don't know which model came before the other but I think the SAT6's are better speakers. Looking back, I should have shelled out for a pair when they were being sold for $399 at SoundCity.. Duffinator, I just refer them to S600 for short but they are actually labeled as SAT600. So is there an "S" series A/D/S?

There are two different series of A/D/S/ speakers, S600 and S700, and SAT6 and SAT7. There might be additional speakers in the series and I'm not sure which came first. Hopefully Soundmotor will stop by and clarify the differences between the speakers. My S700's are biwire capable.
 
Duffinator: What speakers have you found that sounds better than your S700's if any, excluding multi-thousand dollar ones.

I can't say what's better and what's not but they are excellent bookshelf speakers especially for $200 or less. Click the link in my signature for speakers that sound much better than my S700's. :yes:

My pair of 980-I. I will never let these go anywhere. These have been updated with Cardas wiring, internal bracing, which were all done by the previous owner. The previous owner compared these to his current speaker VMPS Ribbon Monitor 30M. I didnt have the opportunity to listen to his VMPS speakers at the time I bought the L-980's, but he felt that the 980's were very close.

Those are gorgeous speakers!! I'll be getting an pair of L1090/2's from a friend this weekend. Do you or anyone have any opninion on these?
