ADS models, an impromptu rollcall

Since you guys are talking about the pb-1500...

I recently acquired one from my fathers storage, problem is I can't locate the C-1500 anywhere! I'd love to get this beauty fired up in my up coming theater. Is there any way to use the unit without the crossover/bass control unit?

It's not like there's an abundance of C-1500's floating around for sale...

Any information you guys can give me about the sub would be great!

Not sure who that response was intended for, but the L520 has an 8" Stifflite woofer (206-0326 originally, then the 206-0323) and 1" tweeter (206-0100, later superseded by the 206-0116).

The L420 has a 7" woofer and the L620 is 10".

Yea- there's a simple jumper wire you can install. It's in the SM. It'll convert it to 'On' all the time.

I have a C1500 and an amp module (no sub enclosure, just the electronics). One channel is flaky on the amp. Never got around to messing with it too much. IIRC, both channels of the amp work but I think it has an issue with the protection circuit on the flaky channel. Probably a bad capacitor, but other projects are more pressing and I've never got too deep into it. Crossover works great.

I have the schematics and manuals and brochures at home. Can email a copy tomorrow if you'd like. PM me with your email and if you might be interested in the amp and crossover. I need to make some room anyway. If not, C1500s show up from time to time. Be patient.

Glad I found this forum on ADS Speakers. Recently got back into Audio after years away from (life got in the way). Have been updating and replacing vintage component system from original Sansui 5500 receiver and Sonic speakers. Went over to a vintage audio second hand store to look at some PSB's (dealer) and left with a set of ADS L620's in mint condition with a one year guarantee on parts and labor and or a one year complete store refund. Hooked the L620's up to a 9090db and was very impressed with the sound quality. Now I really like the ADS's and have almost forgotten the PSB's. Not being knowledgeable with speakers what is a fair going price ? I hope I didn't over pay. But I do like them very much and they are mint. They look like they have never been used. If there is a model similar in size and looks that sound better to my old ears....well....I'm hooked :D
Thanks guys for any info

bgoodz,

Pricing questions should be asked in the "Dollars and sense" forum.

10-4 Adam, thanks. I was wondering about that after I submitted but noticed some posted about what they paid. I was happy to see there was an ADS section and thought the group of ADS guys would know a range. I apologize and will move it over.

Thanks,
bgoodz

I've used a/d/s L-980's since I bought them new in 1984. As much as I've tried, I can't find a reason to replace them.

Hear! Hear! (lol)

I bought mine circa 1986 and have cherished them ever since. Wouldn't consider replacing them but I do hold a grudge - they've spoiled me. Of course that was the start and eventually I added derived rear L-1290s. A set of L-470s appeared to make an office system with my old Atelier stuff. Then the TV sounded like hell (when not doing faux surround) so I put L310s on that, with a 3rd L310 for a center in the very few instances when I could decode real surround. Of coursethe bedroom really needed something listenable so in went some L-400s. Then oh-the-horror I hurt a 980 woofer and found both a replacement and an sw12 to prevent that from recurring. And so on.

Anyway had to chime in with thanks for the canonical ADS thread. I popped in trying to find a suitable "rear surround", still debating L-690s or L-990s as they have the form factor that would work. We shall see.

I think I caught a sickness back in 1986, thanks to a good friend who worked there. I was skeptical, he was insistent "You REALLY need these". He was right. I have been glad ever since. They'll have to pry my 980s from my cold dead ears.

Cheers,
- Jeff

a/d/s/ MV-80/t

Is anyone familiar with the model MV-80/T? I purchased a set from a Canadian audio classified site, but probably won't actually hear them for a month or two. The speakers were in another city and the Seller was only offering them locally so I sent payment and made arrangements for a friend to pick them up for me. The Audiogon Bluebook says that model came out in 1998 with a list of $2800. From the photos it appears these towers have ported enclosures, which seems strange for a/d/s/.

ADS PA-1 biamp for 1290/1590

I recently acquired a pair of PA-1's, however, they did not come with the user manual:pity:. I'm trying to locate a manual. If anyone can help, I have manuals for other ADS equipment that I'd be happy to trade, such as C2000, P1500, 910's, L1590's, etc.
Thanks, Steve

I have a pair of L-500s that need a new tweeter and a pair of L-630s that need a new tweeter and work done on the crossovers.

Congtats on the PA-1s. I've heard there is a factory mod to make them work with 1530s/2030s.
I would really like to find out exactly what a C2000 did and try to duplicate it with something obtainable, even if I have to do some customization. Does the manual have any details about slopes, eq etc? I guess what I really need is a service manual.

I have an amplifier from the ADS powered sub that had two 10's... that I would give away if someone wanted it....

Interested in Sub Amp

Hi,
I have a PB1500 that I'm currently using. I'd love to have the amps as a backup should something go wrong with what I have. Let me know if you still have it. I have a pretty good collection of ADS speakers if you need something.
Thanks, Steve

I have the original manual for the C2000 (I own two). There is no schematic or discussion about the crossover other than an explanation of the dip switches on the back. I do have information on the modifications necessary to us it for the L1590 or L1290 series if you're interested.
