Advent Model 8 Speakers

Hey everyone,

I’ve been offered a pair of advent model 8 speakers for $75, however, I can’t find any info on them. Does anyone know the specs, quality, etc? Is $75 a worthwhile price?

To my knowledge, Advent never made a model 8. Are you sure the seller isn't reading the ohm rating on them (8Ω)? If it just says "The Advent Loudspeaker" then it's probably the original Advent. $75 is a good price if the components are all original and the cabinet's in good shape. If any of the drivers have been switched out then you'll have to reconsider; they're still available on the used market but will add significantly to the price.

Those don't match the dimensions of either original Advent or the Smaller Advent. I'd suggest getting some pictures and posting them here, unless someone here recognizes the serial number type or the dimensions. They're pretty close to the dimensions of the Advent Prodigy, which is a much newer model than the original - dates to the late 1980s. I'd say that if they're Prodigies, unless they're in perfect working and at least good cosmetic condition, the asking price is probably a little on the high side.

Those are not Advents. Those are American Monitor Model 8 speakers
