AK Design Collaborative - Insignia-Class Economy Speakers (a.k.a Indignia)

The Mindignias ended up in the boys' (6 and 8yo) room. Today they decided that they wanted to play the Wii on the living room system but wanted "background music". So they head into the bedroom with a CD and the next thing I hear is U Can't Touch This at ear bleeding levels.

I added a budget sub (an 8" sub driver I had in the cabinet and a 70W plate amp) for their setup. So now they have a Batman DVD player and Batman TV, NAD 7120e, Mindignias, and a sub all setup on a shelf under their loft beds. Needs a little cable management but sounds pretty good. Here ya go:

The smaller Polks have a good clean sound, and if you want more sound later on you can add a sub-woofer. Just one of, I'm sure, many suggestions you will get! have fun!
 
The set I built with my 6 year old play music almost every morning (before kindergarten and now summer) through a Sansui 7070 Receiver and a 1993 vintage Sony ES CD Player. If anyone's Indignia's sound better than this setup I'd LOVE to hear it! I'm ALWAYS looking for inexpensive audio equipment - a lot of it turns out to be undervalued vintage equipment - i.e. the sansui was $35 or $40 if I remember correctly, a pioneer sx 939 for $25, ADS bookshelfs for $10, etc.

But dollar for dollar, these still amaze me. And it was a fun project for my son and I to boot! anyone thinking about it, should just do it.

Well, thats the thing, while they sound splendid with most any decent playback system, they also do justice to mega buck front ends and amplification regardless of price range.

IIRC, there was some discussion waaay back about an emblem or a serial # design for the Indignias. Was there ever a final consensus on this? or are we just scribbling them on the back with a crayon? :no:

Schnitzy was a word I learned from my last corporate type employer. The company president used it all the time.
 
Sorry if this has already been answered, but I did try searching the thread first and could not find it. Are the specs posted somewhere? Specifically I'm interested in knowing the sensitivity. Thanks!
 
Can some one help me.I am putting together the Standard Kit and I can not get Winisd to cooperate at all. I need to know how the DC-300 acts in 2ft3 sealed and if that wont work what port sizes do I need. Thanks.

I don't know what the standard kit is, but the Indignia didn't use a DC300 in the build.
